Top-normal front mech - SIS outer or spiral-wound
Unless SIS outer is better for this application I'm going to stick with the normal kind, is it?
(The cable outer has to move and flex to push the cage inwards, that might not be something the SIS outer likes to do.)

I don't think it will matter unless you haven't specific ferrules that can sit tight and flush with the ends of the derailleur housing. If you don't, the housing will separate at the ends, and you'll be much better off just using brake housing.
A few people find those high-normal front derailleurs helpful. I find them to be heavy, clunky, and ugly.

Spiral, easy enough, no issues.
Who bought a bike where the Brake housing was SIS. one of many surprises, never rode it with that, was planning changing the housing color anyway...
And the seller PAID a shop for that work!
