Trek District 2010 Gates belt drive
There is one of these for sale locally, it's gray and orange. I'm not allowed to add photos. Looking for pros and cons. He's asking $700. Thanks for any help.

Thumbs up for the belt drive. My bike has one and I love it. It will out last a chain, is silent and needs no maintenance.

That looks like a fun, simple single speed that should require almost no maintenance.
It’s probably pretty light.
Make sure the drive ratio works for you, keeping in mind the terrain you plan to ride. Belt pulleys are more expensive and less available than gear sprockets.
I had a similar bike, a Trek Soho Deluxe. It’s the same frame, but with disc brake on front and roller (hub) brake rear, and a Shimano Nexus 8 speed internal gear hub.
I really liked the Gates belt. Did not like the weak and heavy rear brake, and had some issues with the IGH.
I think the price might be a bit high for the one you’re looking at. Not sure, though. If it’s in excellent condition and is what you like, you probably won’t go wrong.

The bike could be great but would love to see it Hopefully you are interested in bikes and willing to join the forum so we can see it. Gates Belt Drives are excellent and if the bike is in excellent condition with few to no miles and has been regularly tuned it might not be absolutely terrible but the bike was only $1100 new so $700 might be a little high on a 2010 bike that isn't super special in any way. Not a terrible bike but nothing so special aside from the gates drive but those are becoming easier to find these days.
