I bought the Masi that I rode on this tour from Bob Freeman's friend Jerry Leitch in 2020. Jerry passed away early in 2021 after battling cancer. While we were in Salem, Bob mentioned to me that he had pictures of Jerry and Brian Baylis looking at the bike at one of Bob's backyard bike shows in 2003. He sent me the pictures yesterday and said it would be OK if I shared them here.

Oh I know, I've heard the argument go both/all ways, tri-flow/WD-40/Campy/Shimano, blah, blah, blah, ad nauseum.

A couple squirts of tri-flow freed up the Campy 9 speeds on the silver Merz a couple of years ago so who knows, probably on borrowed time as we speak.

Proceed at your own peril as with so many things.
