Addiction 2021.4

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That's a shame. I remember when I was 2 weeks from retirement, I think I probably redefined the meaning of the term "throttle down".

I set out to do a moderately-paced ~40km route on Zwift and unwittingly selected B Brevet's current route. About 20 min in to my ride, I was overtaken by the pack. I didn't set out with the intention or desire to work at tempo, but I couldn't resist the draft and the drop multi. It actually worked out great - I got through a full cycle of the multiplier progression about 3 or 4km from the end of the route, so I just let 'em go and cooled down to the finish.

Sounds like a good time. I don't think I've ever paid attention to the drop multiplier. I have 1.5M+ drops, I really like my rig (Tarmac + 808s), and I don't know what else I would use them for.

I'm only Level 13, so I've got plenty of room to upgrade stuff. My bike is a pretty good all-arounder, as are my wheels, but I still only have the free TT bike, might pick up a set of 808s for flatter/non-climbing courses, etc. Then maybe a gravel bike just because. *shrug*

I don't do a lot of the big climbs on Zwift, so I tend more towards aero choices, and have noticed a difference between different parts. I might be wrong about my current wheels. I think they are the deep Cadex ones, not 808s. I might get a gravel bike to do the Ruins ride a little more often. I don't see a need for a TT bike (YMMV).

No. It’s research. A trial. I would not bet on it working.

Good ride today. Temps warmed up slowly to about 50 by the end. 100% fun!

There was a lot of marketing when they started several years ago. Model kinda like Canyon but I suspect they use open source molds. I suspect their product is fine, but seems they never got a whole lot of traction.

Some of their stuff is (purportedly) designed in-house.

I'm curious what preclinical data they have to support it, though, since they had to have shown some to the FDA to get IND approval.
