Metric tent pole for cargo bike canopy?
This query isn't, strictly speaking, C&V, but I trust you folks more than anyone else to find obscure bits and pieces. So:
I recently broke one of the aluminum pole ends on my Douze cargo bike's rain canopy.
Here's the bike, with the canopy:
And here's the broken piece:
On the broken piece, the outer diameter of the silver insert tube (the crucial measurement) is 8mm (.314 inch) and the outer diameter of the gold outer tube is 10mm (.393 inch). The gold outer tube is approximately 4.5cm long and the angle looks like at least 145 degrees.
I've talked to a tent-pole specialist in the US, Quest Outfitters, who sell pre-bent arches like that, but only in SAE (inch) sizes. They don't have one to fit my pole. I've been trying to find a metric replacement online, but my meager French and German Googling skills only take me so far. Can anybody here, perhaps somebody in Europe or Asia, help me find the part? I'd be really grateful.

are the smaller diameter tubes two separate pieces affixed in the bent sleeve? or is the smaller tube solid and then run through the sleeve and then bent?

Seems like you should be able to find 8mm alu or stainless tubing with no problem! Slip a sleeve over it with 8mm ID, give it a little bend, and you'd be all set.

8mm is .315" 5/16" is .313. I don't know that .002" is going to make any difference in this "precision" application.
I'd be going to the hardware/hobby store and buying a foot of 5/16 mild steel rod, cutting to length needed, and putting the little bend in at as needed.

Yes. Clever Cycles in Portland does their best, but Douze is notoriously difficult to deal with. They make an incredible bicycle, but they're not great at selling or servicing it, at least not outside of Europe.

I checked through my pile of "things too small to throw away" and found several tubes a bit larger and a bit smaller but nothing 8mm. Yes the couplers on all my tent poles are 8mm but I have no broken or spare tent poles. So
a) fashion one from a hardwood. Make a dowel from white ash, maple or cherry. That short should be strong enough.
b) check with local outfitter stores (ex: REI). They sometimes have broken or spare tent poles in the back that were returned by customers. Cannot hurt to ask.
c) check or even call Quest Outfitters who have all sorts of things including tent poles, parts, fabrics, etc. I think they are in Florida. Been in business for "donkey's years".

For posterity: I was able to get exactly the piece I needed from TentPole Technologies in Vancouver, Washington. Awesome!
