WTB: Suntour Superbe Shifters

I am looking for a set of Suntour Superbe downtube shifters. Braze on and decent rider quality. Per Velobase, the model is LD-3250. Apparently, they were made with both the Suntour and Superbe name on the shifters. Superbe would be preferred, but either would work.

Pic from Velobase

Interesting. A triple, plus what loooks like Lepree RD. Upright geometry...

It only looks like a Lepree. It's actually the exceedingly rare 3-pulley Superbe Pro. In fact, this may be the only one in existence.

Dang. Super rare. Are the wheels Superbe as well?

I made it myself. The cage is from a Lepree. Yeah, the wheels are Superbe too, and since the picture above I added Superbe pedals. It was a fun bike to put together but I haven’t enjoyed riding it as much as I hoped I would.

Doesn't have the wow factor? You should put that Superbe stuff on another bike...like a Cannondale or something...

That Superbe RD in a slightly earlier iteration was made in a long cage, but seems rare. Speaking of Cannondale, someone posted that it came on one of their earlier tourers.

Yeah, doesn't have the wow factor. I think it's just a mismatch between rider and bike. The person who sold me my Sequoia described the same kind of meh-factor, then I rode it and was instantly in love. I've kind of given up on understanding what makes a bike feel great.

I have one of those too. I bought it as a back up in case my franken-derailleur failed.

This is true. I am hoping that I fall in love with the projects I have yet to get to...Peugeot Competition, AD SLE, Trek from Mad Honk...

I like the franken-mech, though I have never figured out why the third pulley was a good development...

These are the types of thoughts that keep me up at night, having a years-long list of pending projects. Something can feel right as conceived on paper, but until actually realized and put into use, we're never truly sure. The longer a project languishes on the bench, the larger the potential for disappointment when ultimately finished. A further complication arises from evolving taste and personal preferences, some due to aging.
Here's to all our respective projects hitting the mark when completed
