Old enduro roadie here. Getting back into the addiction! (Houston, TX)

Old enduro roadie here. Getting back into the addiction after about 20 years because my 2yo daughter (my first!) loves cycling!
Last time I regularly rode more than 1mi was 2004 or so. A LOT has changed. Performance and Nashbar catalogs are gone. We're apparently shifting electrically. A lot of brakes are now disk. . .and hydraulic! (how else could it be, but still. . .the surprise)
What else have I missed, y'all? Really, catch me up!

. . . true story. . .I went deep into the closet (no, not that closet!. . .no one cares anymore, just be considerate!) and found my old, old, old, like last century old bike shorts. Performance logo and all. All of the elastic has since rotted away, but the spandex is just fine. I think my daughter and I are going to have a nice ride tomorrow!

Let's see... Freewheels do not thread on anymore, the cogs are now held on by a lockring. Stems bolt on directly to the fork steer. SRAM has come out with a wider range of rear sprockets, to make it possible to run only one front chainring, since they were not able to come up with a front derailleur that people did not hate. Electric bikes have really taken off. Cyclists buy nice shorts from Aerotec Design in Pittsburgh.
