Dielectric grease to water-resistize lights?

Dielectric grease to water-resistize lights?
My rear dynamo light looks pretty porous and has some electronics in there, so I was wondering if plugging up holes with dielectric grease would be a good idea. I hardly ever ride in the wet, but every now and then I do. The rear tire would blast water up right into the underside of the light if I rode over a wet surface.

I doubt it would hold up in that application. I use it on connections all the time.

I run fenders, thus not much tire spray. But if I was concerned about it, I would put a layer of electrical tape over the open spaces in the bottom of the light and call that good. Probably need several pieces of tape to get much of a seal around the wires where they enter the light.

For my funky homemade lights, I seal stuff up with silicone caulk, aka RTV. Specifically, I like GE280, which is available at one of the local Ace hardware stores.
