Have chainring teeth become more sawtoothed?
I’m talking BRAND NEW chainring teeth, not worn ones.
Seems like those from about 12 years and before were more squared off.
Hmm… does this have anything to do with better meshing with MODERN chains?

Some have tooth profiles that are designed to help keep the chain on, especially those intended for use with 1X drivetrains.

The sharktooth profile cuts the wind better at the top, where ground speed is highest.

It's a CONSPIRACY, folks: right outta the factory, they are shaped to LOOK WORN ... so in a few months, when your bike starts havin' shiftin' issues, you'll whip out your phone and Google "bike shifting issues" and Google Images will suggest what a worn chainring looks like:
"Now how when wuz da last time I replaced my WHOLE drive train? Hmmm."

There used to be what was known as cross-chaining but Shimano fixed that by going to 1x sawtooth chainrings and 12-speed cassettes.
