Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Look Keo Sprint memory tab - ?

I have a pair of grey cleats for Look Keo Sprints that I'm trying to mount. I have a pair of Sidi shoes that have the 4th hole.

I can't figure out how to use the memory tab?

It looks as if you need a bolt to attach the tab (as the hole is threaded) but the cleats don't come with a 7th and 8th bolt, just the six for the cleats themselves.

Can someone explain how the memory tabs work. I read the manual, but can't seem to figure it out...

It's really simple, actually.

Install the tab on the shoe, but do NOT tighten it. Fit the cleat on the shoe - make sure that the rubber cap is removed so you can tighten the tab bolt. Once the cleat is in the proper position, tighten the tab bolt. Remove the cleat, place the rubber cap, then reinstall the cleat. Done.

does your shoe have a place to screw the tab in? What shoes do you use?

Unless the question was addressed to me, in which case yes, and Sidi.

In addition, the screw to mount the memory tabs should have came with your shoes.

Thanks, Cuski. It is really simple now that you've explained it! Also, it makes a lot more sense now that I went back to the shoe box and found a bag with two small screws and washers. Tree, you were right on this.

One final question...I also found two grip-tape arrows in the bag with the tab screws. I'm guessing maybe these used to tape to the cleats to provide traction? I have the new grey cleats that have the little added Teflon bits for traction, so don't think I need these.

Thanks for sorting me out!

That tape is for carbon soled shoes, it goes between the cleat and the sole. You may need it or not - I've had my carbon shoes for two years now without the tape, and the cleat doesn't slip.

Thank you for the info. I was reading this to try to find out what size the screw is for the memory eyelet, so that I could buy them. Went to my shoe box and found a small plastic bag with two tiny screws in it. That is what they were for. I think I read that they are 5mm, but I did not measure them. So Sidi includes the screws with the shoes, as they do not come with the new cleats.

Please excuse the thread dredge, but sadly newer Sidi shoes no longer include the hardware for the memory clip, neither the female receptor inside the middle slot nor the small screw and washer.

I've always thought the memory clip was one of the absolute best bicycle inventions.
