Combining different wheels front and rear

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Combining different wheels front and rear

RS81 tubeless front and Ultegra WH-6800 tubeless rear. What do you guys think about it? Would there be any problem other than aesthetics?

Isn't the aesthetics a big enough problem to stop this abomination from happening?

Also, the different hubs would spin at different rates causing harmonic imbalance and tire wear differentials. If your bike is crabon it will certainly asplode at speed.

Bad idea !!

The "better" wheel will be resentful of being paired with a "worse" wheel, and thus not give optimum performance.
The "worse" wheel will feel inadequate, and try too hard to compensate, and wear out prematurely.

This is the only reason that I haven't replaced a crappy Oval front wheel, with a nice light weight Easton Ascent on my backup bike.

Whatever you do, don't mount a clincher and a tubular to the bike at the same time. You could die.

I do it fairly often, mostly because my power meter is on a Hed Belgum wheel set, not my racing wheels. This is what my I rode for my last triathlon:

I'm running 2 entirely different wheels front and back. I'd prefer to use, and will eventually have a matched set of wheels. That said, my current setup seems to be causing no adverse issues.

Sorry i forgot to mention that those 2 wheels has exact same hub(RS81 hubs are Ultegra). So only difference is rim material and (maybe) spokes.

Ultegra rim has a weird color and i agree with comments above about aesthetics. I don't know why Shimano choosen that kind of color instead of just normal grey like RS81. Meh. OTOH i'm still considering this combo.

I will look around till Schwalbe relase Pro One tubeless tyres.

Wow ugliest combo ever. At least he could go with a black front wheel.

This is a neat looking Cervelo. Only the frame tho.

She looks like one! There's an aesthetic problem common to all witches and heretics! and that nose.

His rear rim probably cracked like everyone else who runs Ksyriums...

No, but I did have a seized nipple. It'll eventually fail, but in the meantime, it's on my son's bike. A 75lbs, he isn't putting too much stress on it. This picture is 3 or 4 years old and I raced and trained on them for a couple of years before that. I bet those Ksyriums probably have 50K miles on them by now.

You all could probably guess that I flatted, got back to the wheel pit, and took my free lap.
