Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sekine: https://indianapolis.craigslist.org/bik/177415408.html

Technically a Japanese company, but they manufactured bikes in Manitoba for a while. It also might be hard to find any in bike stores, but who knows, some NOS might show up?

My brother has an old Sekine Verona, though I think his was made in Japan.

Marinoni's are still actually made in Canada. There was a time when almost every frame in a race was Marinoni.
Garneau, Argon, Cervelo are all made in Taiwan.

Ok, but they design nice bikes and the companies are Canadian. I will keep my eyes out for Marinoni though. Glad they are manufactured here.

Norco is manufacturered in Canada. Do they have a decent road frame?

If I wanted CAnadian carbon, I'd go Guru. I think they are one of the best high performance bikes made in Canada. The Maestro and Carbonio are pure sweetness.

What kind of material are you looking for? Guru has them all.

Last year I ordered a Louis Garneau alu frame. It took a month, came in wrong color, waited another 2 weeks, then the paint and finish were awful. I finaly chose an Opus frame (alto). I'm very satisfied with it but next time I will go for Marinoni since they are all Canadian made frames.

I know Devinci put a lot of effort in the design of their bikes but some others (Garneau ?, Opus ?) may only buy pre-design frame from Taiwan.

If I buy, eventually, another hardtail MTB, a steel Rocky Mountain will be at the top of my list (blizzard).

My first 10-speed was a Sekine (back in the seventies)

My buddy has a Guru Ti and he loves it, even though it's heavier than his Bianchi carbon. I have a Cervelo and I love it. Rocky Mountain Turbo - scandium before scandium was cool [I like it better than the Solo 70CR]. I had a SLX, lugged Marinoni in metallic lavender with Chorus back in the 90's. Oh wow, did that thing ever ride sweet. I have a friend who picked up a Louis Garneau carbon. She says it compares well with her boyfriend's Look 585.

Undecided except definately not aluminum. I already have a great steel bike. So ti or cf. Wood is at the top of the list but I'm just dreaming.

I'm interested in bikes that are at least designed here. Compact geometry is a no no so that may narow it down a bit.
