This is what passes for my bike these days. A 25” Schwinn Sprint frame from the 80s with an eclectic mix of mostly newer parts along with a few older parts. Original from the Sprint are the frame, headset and what’s left of the brake levers after I removed the safety levers and chopped the bolts flush.
Don’t get too excited by the 6 speed rear cluster and derailleur, I mostly just ride 40/16. Though after today’s hot, muggy ride in the hills, I will clearly need to also do some intervals spinning the top 40/13 combo as well.

My Rivendell Hunqapillar, finally powdercoated after 11 years of beating it up on tours. It's Riv's anywhere, any road, anytime for big boys bike.

'78 Free Spirit
One of my rides as an old guy was also my ride as a young guy. My wife got me this '78 Free Spirit new for my birthday. The first photo is how it is today, where not much is left from the original other than the frame, fork, and maybe the brake calipers. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of it when it was new, but the second photo shows how I retrofitted it a few years ago to something near it's original configuration. Somewhere along the way I lost the wonky dual position brake levers, and a few of the other bits are new but similar to what was originally on it. I got the bug to retrofit it because it had spent many of the prior years with flat bars and a child seat on the back as my dad bike. After that, my son took it to college where he managed to keep it from being stolen in one of the biggest bike theft areas in the country. He did t-bone a car that turned in front of him, but thankfully he was not hurt and only the front wheel needed replacing. Between having a massive bike lock slung over the frame rails in its college days and being crammed onto a bike rack with three other bikes in its dad bike days, the original paint and decals were pretty mangled. The frame is nicely lugged and it's reasonably light for steel so I stripped it down, repainted it, and put it into the mix for my constant fiddling with components and setup. With any luck, I'll keep riding it and fiddling with it for a good long time.

'72 PX-10 650b conversion. The classic white-with-black-lugs PX-10 was an icon of my youth, and I always wanted, if not a PX-10, then at least some sort of French racing bike! I did a summer 'exchange' in France when I was 15, determined to come home with a French bike, but alas the $ didn't allow (I did end up leaving a Cannondale in France a decade later when it was stolen in Toulouse on a bike tour.....). So it didn't come directly from France, and I had to customize it to suit my 50+ joints and terrible local roads, but this thing is great to ride (& nice to look at, IMO).

My 90 year old friend's other bike, when he doesn't ride the Klein Quantum Pro. Forgive the dork disk.

I would say it's a repaint and the chips weren't sanded down well in the prepwork. Hopefully there is no rust forming. Pretty bike!

Really? I've never seen the brand before. I had no idea they did an engraving on the seat tube. Cool touch. I spoke without knowledge. I really am sorry for the unfortunate comment I made then. But I didn't mean it isn't a quality frame. Like I said, it is a beautiful frame and the lugwork is very nicely done. A collectors item!

No problem. I just learned about the Rooster over the last year and decided I wanted to find one. I was pecked by the rooster.

This is the latest one to make it into my stable. Actually been working on still downsizing but this was too good to pass up. Felt great on it's first ride under me and I'll be taking it back out again this morning. It's an earlier David Kirk build Terraplane bike. As in the pics it running at 20.5 lbs.

Well......I honestly am still downsizing. I've moved on three road bikes and the mountain bike. But this has been listed locally for awhile now. Went and grabbed it Saturday. It's a 90's Italian made C4 Air One with a full Campagnolo Chorus 8 speed setup.. Took it for a 30 mile test ride Sunday and it felt great under. Much nicer riding than the old Calfee Tetra Pro I did over the same route the day before.

My two favorite bikes are a 26” LHT w Jones bars and Rivindell ClemSmith w 2.4 tires and Bafang midrive. Totally hilly dirt riding out here unless I go to town which is paved. I’ve had a lot of perfect bikes when I was young and quick. Now I float and truck along. LHT is the truck and the Clem floats
