Mavic M6 CD with Performance Hubs

Anyone know how I can get more information on the "Performance" hubs? Not finding much on the internet. Not original equipment for the bike (91 Rockhopper Comp). Thanks for any additional information.

I believe that those are Taiwan-sourced, similar to hubs branded Sovos and KK so probably from the same big factory.
I have long suspected that the factory tooling may have come from a defunt Maillard facility.

Those are cool (and very wide) Mavic rims you have there.
These rims were the best available for period downhill racing. I still have an un-built set, in silver.

I agree they look like lots of other mid level hubs, but appear to be branded for Performance mail order shop

I bought a set of wheels from Performance Bike Shop in about 1985. They have (present tense) stainless spokes, MAVIC MA2 rims and those sealed bearing hubs.

I have no idea how many miles are on those hubs (both wheels, really) but they are still going strong.

If I were you, I'd keep them. I am, in fact, keeping mine. I rode them just today.

In the early 1990s, I bought several sets of Performance cartridge bearing nutted hubs on closeout (about the time of the big switchover to cassette freehubs). They seem to be well-constructed by their supplier, and I've laced them into wheels that have seen thousands of trouble-free miles.

I have a pair of Performance wheels with sealed bearing hubs.
By all appearances they are Avocet/ Ofmega brand. Quick releases match that brand.
Mine have Performance rims which are clearly labeled Campagnolo Omega Strada hardox.
The wheels were mounted on a Cilo/Vitus 979, along with several changes, notably Shimano
600 right shifter and 105 rear derailler on an otherwise Dura Ace bike. Evidently, an update
to index shifting.
