I had another Single Speed Sunday ride this morning. I was looking for the end point where several vehicles with sirens went to last night around midnight. I never did see anything definitive, but some streets had enough fireworks debris to equal what autumn looks like with leaves on the ground.

i love both bicycles. Simple yet very sophisticated at the same time. Both look comfortable enough to ride all day.

I like what you did with the handlebars, front brakes, tires, etc. Very nice set up.

Thanks ,
I mostly use the front brake . I save the rear coaster brake like an emergency brake , in case I need to stop quickly .
The riser bars make the bike handle better , more like a mountain bike. The original cruiser bars came back too far and got in the way during a sharp turn .
And I love the 2.5x26” Maxxis Hookworms. I run about 45 psi and they roll great , hug the pavement, and provide some shock absorption.
Makes a fun single speed cruiser.

Ahh

hookworms (I was trying to figure out what tires you had). Front brakes = around 85% or so of your stopping power. Smart on your part to use them 👍

My first Sunday in a while with no kids and no work, so I did 60 miles which is the longest I've gone in a long time.
I like this theme of SingleSpeed Sunday and I'm going to try to get one Sunday a month for a ride like this !

Single Speed Sunday....ran into a familiar "friend" on one of the MUP routes I ride when I'm trying to get out of the sun.

30 miles today on a regular route, but a torrential thunderstorm hit right at the midpoint of the ride . . . sheets of rain flying sideways and crosswind gusts causing me to fishtail all over the place, even at the slowest speeds.
I pulled over, got off the bike for 30 mins, finished the ride when the winds subsided . . . it was still fun

SS Sunday!......went out earlier due to extreme rain front moving in. There was a slight breeze at my back when I headed east on my usual SS route.
By the time I hit my "turn-around-point" the breeze became a strong headwind. It slipped my mind that fronts usual bring high winds. Mother Nature threw me a challenge getting home but at least I didn't get wet.....

Wasn’t sure I was going to get a ride in today , but it’s SS Sunday , so when we got home from church around 11 it was already 86 degrees and climbing.
A quick change of clothes and I took my old black Electra C1 with its new green wheelset out for 6.4 miles. Hot but at least there was a slight breeze today .

Dusted off my FG (Wabi) for the first time in many months today and rode it four a solid ~3 hrs this morning, 50-something with some climbing. Hammered it pretty hard at points, I miss this bike!

I think I will integrate it into the weekly quiver for commuting and some long rides when I start training for the 2021 (road) racing season.

I mowed the yard this morning to beat another line of thunderstorms threatening the area and then rode the red single speed red for a while right after. Didn't take a watch and didn't pay attention to when I left the house.

Only about 80 degrees and breezy outside, which is awesome for July in Southeast Texas. Doesn't get much better.

I’m building a Single Speed Sunday bike .
This is what threw together this afternoon. Still a lot of tweaking before it’ll be ready for Sunday rides but I think it’s going to be a nice one just for a casual Sunday ride .

Bike is coming along and evolving.
Waiting on a 700c coaster brake rear wheel and the front brake caliper.
Then I can have front and rear tires that match . And have a front brake that’ll make feel safer riding .
Wont be ready for a solo ride this Sunday, but it may get ridden a couple miles . Test rode her three miles around the neighborhood between showers today .

I just couldn’t get comfortable riding the Mixte . The frame is just too small for me .
After searching through my old frames , I chose this one that I had painted black a few years ago . I do t remember the brand , but I do remember it is a chrome moly steel frame and lighter than any of the others I have .
And it was easy to have a front brake .
I may be riding this one this Sunday . Feels much better .

Not happening for me today. Got up early to see high winds (trees blowing) and a downpour. Looks like it's going to be around for a few hours. Then I'm hosting a BBQ (within the beer virus guidelines for social distancing of course).

Ride Safe Everyone.....

Finally get to contribute!

I rode my usual route this morning, 11 miles on the Mississippi River trail on my 12 yo Nasbar Alum SS. This is the latest build.

Pretty sure I've posted this bike on the forums before.

Well I was enjoying a cold one by a local brewery (not AB), at the end of the ride, and admiring my build, trying to decide on what color to paint the frame and saw something with the frame I had not noticed before.

The downtime right below the weld. Looks like a stress bend to me. this bike was never in an accident. I never hit anything head on but this looks to me like the frame is bending. also the line on the top of the downtime looks like the start of a crack to me.

Time to get a new frame?

Got out around ten this morning. Already 84 with heat index of 93 when I started .
Rode my no name SS I put together this past week .
I kept feel a bump when pedaling . When I got back home I discovered the crank axle has a lot of play in it .
I have a cheap crank set and bottom bracket I ordered off Amazon that I was going to try and put on an Electra cruiser . Guess I’ll be seeing if it’ll fit this bike . Rode 6.5 miles total .
Edit: When I got home , I dug out the new crankset/bottom bracket and after a couple hours of viewing videos and looking up tools , I got out the channel locks and removed the old one and installed the new set . Dropped the gearing down a little , now it’s easy to cruise with.
I took it for a short spin
