Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I’m hoping to have some more miles this week. But I’ve been trying to sprinkle more runs in too. I’ll probably get 20 in tonight and 35 or so tomorrow morning

Next weekend (19th) is the Tour of the Battenkill, so that’s a guaranteed 75+ whatever I do during the week.

Sometimes a ride with nothing interesting to talk about, is a great ride anyway.

But I did save a diamond back terrapin and some stranded crabs.

Try it on your own car. Report your findings.

Pick it up in the mid-section. It can't snap you.

According to Car & Driver, my stock, 5,200 lb car gets to 60 in 3.4 seconds.

According to Motor Trend, my wife's SUV gets to 60 in 4.6 seconds.

Those are fully loaded and plenty fast for me. No need to gut them and make them ugly.

My Jeep gets there in a day or two.

I had a 1953 Ford that was even slower. It was a flathead with low compression in 2 cylinders.
My S-10 Blazer wasn't quite as bad but after I would drive a supercharged Corvette at work it sure felt like a dog.

My computer has been in dark mode for the past month or so. I just figured out how to bring it back to normal. An extension. How do those things just turn themselves on? I can see it on a phone, with all that jostling. But a laptop?

VW Beetles blew by my brother's Simca 1000. It brought new depth of meaning to the term 'gutless'.

Bits for the new Lotus are starting to come in. New brake hoods arrived today. Mrs. GeneJockey has not commented on the new bike. It's sitting right there in the garage, NOT among the other bikes, leaning up against my work table as in the pic I posted over the weekend. Possibly she thinks it's one of the other bikes, or maybe she doesn't care as long as there's food on the table and the mortgage gets paid.

Well, she knew me for 13 years before she proposed, so as Superchicken told Fred, "You knew the job was dangerous when took it."

Once I went numb to the pain, today’s ride really wasn’t that bad. Bonked at mile 116, felt really weak, ate a snickers and that helped tremendously. If it wasn’t for the heat I felt like I could have kept going.
