I love Beetles. I owned a ‘67 as a teenager and a Beetle was on my short list of cars to buy but the 2002 won out. After seeing some of the prices for some of the rarer no longer manufactured parts, maybe I should have bought a Beetle!

@iab, custom made pulls or did you find those for sale? They're a great match. Nice work on both pieces.

I can understand that, i also have a Porsche 914 and the parts can be pricy for that car also.

Ha, the car that had the most potential immediately before the 2002 was a rust free (no hell hole rust in particular) running yellow 914 that was outside Ellensburg but it wasn't roadworthy and the towing cost to bring it over Snoqualmie pass made it too expensive. Let's see a pic of your car.

Most of my non-bicycle free time and available cash goes into vintage motorcycles (mostly 1970’s), and rebuilding a 1984 Nissan 4x4 pickup

1977 Montesa Cota 348

1973 Hodaka Combat Wombat

‘74 Honda TL 125 and 1975 Yamaha TY175

Nice looking 914! The best color for that car and the Minilite/Panasport wheels (sorry, I can't tell the difference) look just right.

Not content with maintaining a bike collection, a sailboat and a primary residence ... I recently purchased another item that will need some repairs and updates. Undeterred by Covid, I purchased a home near Lago Maggiore in Italy.

That looks really great. I've also wanted one since I was younger. I had an orchestra teacher in high school that had one and I was so fascinated by that quirky little car.

It definitely was. Smooth and eerily quiet when driven normally. Mrs. ollo sweetly explained "we don't need 4 cars" soI agreed to sell two. Set a high enough price, surely one would fail to sell, but both were gone in 24 hours.

Hi Dave,

I'm looking forward to planning a family friendly event in 2022 if Italy and the US has flattened the curve by this time next year. Italy, as you know, offers great culture & landscapes and makes an epic destination, I don't think the significant-others would tolerate being left behind.

How does alternate days of cycling and sightseeing sound?

Michael

Thanks!

The wheels are not that exotic, they are a VW wheel called a Empi 8 Spoke (these are American Eagle Aftermarket wheels. I have a front end from a 911 and will evetually do a swap over to that, it will give me bigger brakes and can run 911 wheels !
