Cornwall, UK - Hi
Hello all,
I'm Vin Cox. I live in Cornwall, South West UK, by the sea. ...and I have a bike problem. It's been 1 day since my latest purchase, and I have about 25 bicycles.
My background is varied; I race cyclo-cross every season from 1987 until the pandemic - being very competitive in the late 90s and early 2000s, riding UCI races in Belgium (Super Presige), Holland, France, Luxembourg and USA. I rode DH MTB in the 1992 and 1993 World Champs. Did a bit of road, TT and track racing. Set a World Record for circumnavigating the world by bicycle in 2010. Finished TransIowa. Finished Transatlantic Way Race. Had other adventures too :-)
A lot of my stuff is vintage, but I still ride and have some newer stuff. I have a Ti CX/gravel bike and an 853 Genesis with hub gear which are good adventure bikes. On the Turbo I have a VanTuyl TiCA (titanium and carbon) cyclo-cross bike. I ride a Pace 104 MTB and a really grubby 1987 Muddy Fox Explorer MTB quite a bit at the mo'. I'm also building a bambo fat bike.
Vintage road bikes: TVT92 with Mavic group (1991), Corima wheels and Scott drop-ins; Eddy Merckx SLX Merckx/Lotto/Campag/Cinelli team bike (1984/85); Peugeot SLX Mavic group (1990).
Vintage MTBs: 1988 Raleigh Avanti in factory Raleigh Banana pro team colours with 1989 Campag Euclid group; early 90s Cougar Softride with Campag Centaur, 1990/91 custom 653 estay with Campag Centaur, Alpinestars CroMega 1992, 1987 Raleigh Ozark.
Quirky stuff: Early 90s Alan Top Cross, 24" wheeled TT/Tri bike; 26" wheeled Softride TT/Tri bike; road Tandem, MTB Tandem, various projects etc.
The bike I just bought is a 1990 653 Peugeot with Mavic group.
I also have my 2010 Genesis Criox de Fer Guiness World Record bike which I cycled around the world on.
That's quite a list - hope I haven't over shared!
See ya on the other boards
