If you're seriously looking, this Cinelli Frog popped up on eBay:

I don't care for the aesthetics, personally, though. I went with one of the Nitto UI-12. (But they only go up to 12cm, not 13-14cm.)

The 3TTT is a nice option.

I really like this one. That said, I don't have a bike that this is the "right" stem for any more.

John, your builds are way neato. Like the style. Anyways, here's one on my radar. Courtesy of Velobase.

I used to have one of those 31.8 quills. I gave it away.
Of course, now I need another one.

I may be missing something, but that rider crashed into a photographer.

Going way back to 1980, examples from Nitto and 3ttt.

For today, Deda offers a few. Depicted is the Murex.

So I went and bought two open face quill stems (Deda and Oyster) before deciding to take the project in the innicycle direction.

Now I'm looking for a sleek threadless stem - something aero-ish - but not really finding one in -17 deg 130 mm.

[QUOTE=CliffordK;21197680]I've used these on a couple of bikes.

The second one of the links you sharef still works but they only have 90mm available. Ordered one for about £44 UK yesterday.

I'm intrigued by the Cinelli Oyster for an upcoming build, but the design reminds me of the 3TTT Evol (or was it their Morphus?) that a lot of people reported cracking issues with. Does anyone know if the Cinelli Oyster shares those problems? I have the Nitto Ui-12 in my parts bin, which is a nice, solid stem, but the welded nature looks a bit out of place on a classic lugged Italian bike (and I have a Tig welded frame to build down the road it'd fit perfectly on).

I wonder which stem the OP ended up choosing?
Anyways I just want to chime in and say the Deda Murex stem is no bueno. It rocked and squeeked like crazy when you are climbing. I ended up making a spacer to close the gap under one of the bolts to essentially turn it into a 1 bolt stem. It was better but still not perfect. In fact 2 bolt open face stems in general are iffy.

The hinged kind is better. So is the 3 bolt kind.
