Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Oh two of my cycling friends are going to the Vegan Cyclist’s training camp in Yosemite. I told them to call him Dude.

Not Lebowski though. Not THE Dude. Just Dude.

I like his videos, mostly. One thing that I remember from a couple of his road trips, though was that he'd find vegan restaurants and get this veritable hog trough of food - like, enough for a family of 4 adults - which he would then eat. And he's a skinny guy!

On Facebook, "If you could only drink one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?"

And I thought, "Cyanide."

I mean, there is precedent for partaking in the former and going on a bicycle ride...

Not that anyone reasonably sane would endorse the practice

I got soaked on my ride today. Glad I took my rain bike instead of the Holdsworth - probably would have ruined my jersey with dirt and mud if I didn't have fenders.

Still super fun. Clouds obscuring the tops of the mountains still hasn't gotten old to look at.

My route today also gave me the chance to test out my new commute route -

My shop is opening up a second location here in the next month or so. While our current location is within range of bicycle commuting (12-13 miles) the roads you have to take aren't the most relaxing

The new shop will be 9.5 miles away, with the route almost entirely on a MUP

I'll bet a TE150i is fast enough to have fun on, especially if you're light. A friend raced 125s in MX and desert and when he came to our rides it was crazy trying to follow him through the dez. He was light and he could turn that thing on a dime and I would be braking and downshifting and trying to get pointed in the direction he was going and the next thing I knew he would turn again. Lots of fun!
I did race it for a while, back when supermoto was a thing. Then I moved, so I sold the bike. Truth is, the 450 was too much for me. I should've been on something smaller, but that was the only class with numbers.

Whether it is cars or bikes (of both types), I always prefer lightweight over big power.

The 41 is where they put all the loonies in. Better to avoid it at all costs. Unless you are one of the aforementioned loonies, of course.

I'm a quasi-doctor (non-medical). I also am aware of when I injure myself.
