Looking to upgrade the tires. You think tan sidewalls suit the frame color?

I am of the opinion that tan sidewalls are the bomb on just about anything, but they do not have as much of a visual impact on carbon bikes, and bikes with hydroformed alloy tubing. Tan sidewalls, in my own opinion, are for retro bikes more than anything. Just my opinion.

I think it depends on the shade of the tan. My wife's bike has them, and I am not a super fan, but she really likes it. I think if they had been a slightly different shade it would be better.

Nope.

I like tan sidewalls on some bikes, and I have them on my bike, but would not choose them on that bike..

Hmm. . . It would drastically change the look of the bike to also have a tan saddle and tan bar tape. I like different. All black is blah to me.

Nope, bike looks great as it is! Nice bike! If it were mine, I might consider some matching blue bar tape though.

I'll add another vote for "nope."

I think that tan sidewalls can look good on modern or vintage bikes, but one thing that I don't like is the busyness of black rims, silver brake tracks, tan sidewalls and then black tire tread. If you've got moderately/deep, all black rims, such as in jaxgtr's photo, I think that the tan sidewall can provide a nice visual break from all of that blackness.

If those are the only two color choices, then I'd do a tan bike with the currently shown tires.

No. Do something with the bar tape, and maybe the cable housings and/or saddle, instead. Tan sidewalls will do nothing for the subject bike.

Nah. I think the murdered-out look is perfect for that bike. It looks hungry.

The main issue with trying to color match is general the colors are off and then it does not look good. Unless your opt for a drastically lighter or dark version then it can work.

Cycling isn't a fashion show. You don't need to color match anything. Black tires are the best, anything other than black is just showing off and acting like an "attention *****"/

I say no on the tan sidewalls, but you might need some pedals.

so, which is it? Cycling isn’t a fashion show, or anything other than black is showing off? I have tan walls on 2 of my bikes, but not because i wanted the color. I have tan walls because the tires I wanted came in that color combo. Should I get tires that don’t have the ride qualities I want just so I can have black sidewalls? Wouldn’t that be making cycling a fashion show?

I will politely differ with you, sir. Looks matter to a lot of people. Cycling has always been a platform of fashion and design. Some people are very attuned to what things look like, so appearances are everything to some folks. I'm not a slave to fashion - at all - but I know what looks good to my eye and what does not. In the end, we all got to be happy with what we ride and how we look, and how we perceive how others look at us. As much as we big strong assertive men like to keep things simple, fashion drives us. I'm comfortable wearing my Orvis fishing shirt, but another guy would be more happy wearing his Slipknot tee-shirt and wouldn't be caught dead in a button-down Orvis shirt.
