Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

9th bike obtained. It's in great shape, has nearly all its original 6297 and 6208 bits. Will still need disassembly, cleaning, etc. but it's actually rideable at the moment. I have to decide what to do with about the original 1985 'Bernard Hinault' model Turbo saddle. I think it's restorable, but I have to look up how.. The seller had replaced the original 6207 brakes with 7401 Dual Pivot brakes, and someone prior to that had replaced the 6207 non-aero brake levers with later aero levers. I also bought, on a whim, a pair of 6209 aero levers, which I might use. If I get 6207 or 6208 levers, there's the perennial problem with lever hoods. The as-yet unanswered question - do I care?

Currently itching to take the Centurion apart, but the visiting dogs are still in possession of the garage. Grrr....

Yes, except true to form, I was very nice. I even stopped at the desk on the way out to make sure there were no ill feelings.

The last hood replacement I did involved hoods from cheap, unbranded levers. They went onto tri-color levers.

Incorrect.

Had this for lunch at 2:30 came home and napped for 90 minutes. New pain medication isn't helping much.
Took half of it home for lunch tomorrow.

It was a beautiful day here just under 80 degrees and we had a nice mtb ride. Not technical but lots of climbing both ways. My friend stayed with me for a lot of the climbs because we were talking but she did go ahead a few times like I knew she could.
I don't know if anyone here remembers BF member Ovoleg but I saw him up there today. He rode with my road club on and off for years but I haven't seen him in a long time. I didn't know he had a mountain bike and apparently he has a girlfriend, too. It was good to see them. I have some old pics from the area.

This is called Eagle Rock. It's 200 feet tall and there are dirt roads above and below it.

After we passed it looking back.

No flat ground.

That's pretty tame for Safa Brian's videos. I ride in those mountains but not like that. Today we were mountain biking in that same range a bit southeast of the video location.

You are correct. Can't believe I called that wrong considering this one lived in my garage for 4 years.

Still rather be carving the canyons in that rather than suicide riding down a big hill.
