Univega Conquest road bike
Hi, I picked a Univega Conquest up for my collection yesterday. Does anyone know what it's worth? 🙂
late 80's, cr-mo tubes & fork, Sugino VP chainset, Suntour SS rear mech, front mech and Suntour 3000 shifters, Dia-Compe brakes & levers, Joytech hubs, Araya 7000 rims. It's all original as far as I'm aware apart from the tyres.
Can't post pics yet as I'm still a "newbie".
Thanks 🙂

As to value…..unless you only gave about 10 quid for it, the bike is probably worth right around what you paid for it. Would you have given another 20 for it?
I did not realize bicycles were sold in England under the Univega label, I thought it was just a US brand.

Good Morning and welcome to the forums. You can upload pics to your gallery and that way we can see them and often someone will post them to the thread for a beginner.

If I happen to change my mind about keeping it 🙄 do you think I'd be better to strip it down to at least get my money back? Or would someone be happy to pay what I paid?

Wouldn't £40 be around $55 US? Or do I have it flipped around.

it depends on its condition. If you give it a good brush up and tune it you shouldn’t have too much trouble getting your money back.

As soon as you buy retail consumables or a pay a shop to do the work, you will start to lose money on it. Sometimes you can sell it as is, but clean it first, and do OK.
In my market, I save my time on higher end stuff, where I can recoup something for my efforts. I've stopped dealing with bikes at this level. But your market could be better!

Hard to say value wise the UK market for anything with wheels is a bit crazy right now with some high prices on just so-so stuff. Considering this is a solid very nice mid level bike I would guess 300-400 pounds for a local sale.
