Since Paris-Roubaix was postponed again this year, I organized a small group to ride the route known as "Oregon's Perry Roubaix" (because it's gravel -- we don't have pavé -- and goes through Perrydale). It was a good excuse to break out the Gugificazione Grand Jubilé. This bike is fantastic on gravel.
Gugficazione!
@gugie contemplating the end of pavement.
It's a lie. The hill wasn't pleasant at all. These two are smiling because they had a long rest while I slowly made my way to the top.
Would you believe I came away from this ride with a sunburn?
Oregon is a green state.

As the song used to go:
I got sunburned on a cloudy day.
When it's cold outside I got the month of May...
Nice pics of what must hve been a really nice ride.

Great job on the ride and the lad, nothing cooler than kids getting after it on the bike, especially when they need it most, hopefully it sticks long term.
My kid, now 27 got his first good bike when he was about 13, paid for it himself, worked at the community center, lifeguard, taught swim lessons, etc.
He proceeded to get several stolen but paid for most of the replacements himself.
Not to many big dedicated rides but a few, down both sides of Mt. Hood, one from Timberline and he was good to go on them.
He commuted on them and Trimet full time until just recently when he finally got his first car.
Pretty proud of him despite not giving him much choice along the way.

Sunday would be a great day to ride the North Cascades without any motor vehicles on the rad.
my son and I loaded up our bikes and drove a couple of hours to where DOT has the road gated off on the west side. We rode up to the first of the two passes, and back to the car. The weather was perfect for riding in the mountains, sunny and cool(much cooler at the top).
I am so proud of my thirteen year old boy. He is a great riding companion, and didn't miss a beat throughout the day(well, maybe around mile 45 he was showing signs of fatigue).
apologies in advance for most of the photos having my kid in them(proud pop moments).
A shout out to northbend here, as he sat in this same spot with me a few years back.

Yeah, they still see plenty of miles, but if there’s much gravel on the route, these days, other than the Ciöcc, the rando bikes get the call.

Had a good ride out on Sunday, first one for a little while. I had a bit of a reaction to my COVID jab, and was advised to take it easy for a couple of weeks, so Sunday was my first bash at a longer ride for a while. Very glad I got the jab in spite of the reaction - my wife's nephew had full blown COVID in December, and has just had a third stay in hospital.
Anyhow, I rode the Motobecane and did a route that was reasonably hard, and showed up just how much fitness you can lose in a few weeks. Up onto the Mendips through Cheddar Gorge, down via Longbottom, up again through Burrington Combe, then down the other side through Draycott Steep (this is the hill GCN do a fair bit of filming on) and back to sunny Weston for lunch and a can (or three) of Thatchers. Nice day, great ride, but I really felt the feet in my legs!

@ExPatTyke, Cheddar Gorge looks awesome! Great pics.
It's getting mighty green out here. Quick local jaunt on the newly converted 1x5 to IGH three speed 27" Humber.

My basic training ride is a 20 mile ride on a path heading north of my home. It has good tree cover in the summer, good water views, and rollers with one decent climb with around a 10% grade. It's been unrideable though the last 2 years due to construction on an interstate that has closed off the path. So I've been taking an unofficial gravel detour on that ride which makes it more interesting. My 1979 Trek 510 with 35c tires is just right for that ride.

Some really nice weather today in the 60's with most of the roads trails finally clear of snow and mud. Took a nice easy ride Alma on the bike trail and side roads. Actually saw the first Mountain wild flowers starting to grow.

Forty five miles today in the Point Reyes National Seashore, about 75 percent pavement, 25% dirt. I found a few sunny holes in the fog, but a fairly foggy day on the coast.
I love the DiNucci. 35mm tires are just right for this kind of ride in my neck of the woods.
The cows don't mind the fog but they regard me with justifiable suspicion.
Unfortunately there are a not a lot of loops available to cyclists in the park so rides like today's end up as a series of out-and-backs.

@obrentharris I love, love, love your DiNucci, too. What a craftsman he is. I wish he was still building bi-plane fork crowns. Nonetheless, I find his work utterly sublime. If I had the extra money, a custom DiNucci would be my first big-ticket purchase.

Greening Up
Spring is here! We got some good rain in the last week, really greened up the dry plains. Hopefully we don't get too much overgrowth, as we're forecast for a dry summer and all that dry grass can burn up quick.
Loop through Daniels Park to see the buffalo and enjoy the climb, then out to Hess/Chambers in Parker to return on the MUP. New middle 1/3 of the ride for me, fun route but I think I prefer going west to the mountains over east to the plains. Some nice fast descents today, old Trek still handles like a dream. Even going east, not many flat sections!
Loaded up the bike and pockets with extra water and nutrition just in case I felt like more, but alas I did not and cranked out about 36 w/ 2400' today. I still need to get used to this gearing combo, I feel like I'm not in sync with my shifting, maybe more saddle time will help (~300mi on this so far).
Looking NW at Longs Peak (I think) from Daniels Park Road before the short climb up
Buffalo (not very photogenic today)
Imagine having buffalo right out by your back deck/patio...
Can kinda see snowy Pikes Peak in the background, bike loaded up with lots of water...

You guys are killing me with all the travelogue pics!
I took another day off work and rode the Motobecane for what DeLorme Street Atlas tells me is 27.8 miles. I could've sworn it was more like 47.8, but what do I know? Don't have an odo on that bike, been keeping it simple so far. Maybe I'll swap the wireless odo from the Raleigh to this bike...
