I’m all in unless the world is kinda ending. Have a house, have a bike, got some friends. Worst case is we’ll drink beer and ride the route ourselves.

I think that if you want to do Eroica California, sign up, and unless, as Doc suggests "the world is ending", we don't absolutely need no stinking "official" event to do this ride.

Just given my own scheduling demands, I'm leaning towards doing my own ride of the "Scalatores" route on April 10th, if anyone wants to join me.

I just went through 24 pages of https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...ear-sport.html and now I wouldn't mind if they *&^%$#@ again. The SoCal 600 Ks are all at the end of April and I never did get past the 300k a few years ago. (Can you tell that I am excited about riding come spring? it has been rarely above 63 degrees here for weeks and it is a struggle to get out each morning.)

If it were to hit 63 degrees in Portlandia before mid-March the roads would be messy with bikes. I was ecstatic on the last 2 days of our NorCal TdMIL when it got up into the 50's.
Do they teach you to apply the five and dime on Rule 9 days down there?

Eroica, Fauxroica, like the monthly Pasadena ride, it'll happen even if no one shows up.

I intend to be in Cambria with a bike that weekend whether the official event happens or not. I don't know if that's an incentive or a disincentive, but there you are.

I’ve got a bike, a house, friends, beer, and now two good arms.
Gonna happen no matter what.

Well it’s sounding like we will make it happen. I am looking forward to riding with my good friend Rich ( bikingshearer)and anyone else who can tolerate riding one of the most beautiful places to ride a bike. I have some catching up to do! I am talking to my new riding buddies about the Nova as they ride modern bikes.

plenty of time for your friends to fall in love with a C&V bike. Friends don't let friends limit themselves to carbon.

I'm in. My first Eroica. I signed up for the hilly La Via Dello Scalatore (81 mi, 6400 ft) route, so an ambitious training plan will be needed.
My first idea is to ride my '84 Holdsworth. Currently riding on 25mm Tufo tubulars, but I'm open to suggested tire changes from any experienced riders...
Here shown soon after purchase from Chas (verktyg) last year:

Clipless is frowned on and just remember to descend in the drops.
Your bike looks great with those tires. And those gears will be fine but I get my kicks trying to follow the riders who have bigger rings and tighter cogsets 😁
