Says it's a 52cm but looks taller to me. Lastly, if it has the original tires and was fit to the owner then that slammed seatpost has probably sat a very long time and should be checked before buying.....

Panasonic road bike - Touring Deluxe - 1980s steel lug frame - $150 (Picfair Village)

You know you need an old steel road bike in your stable, one that's perfect for all day cruises down by the river. This baby has been well loved and cared for for all of its roughly 35 years, and needs a new owner for further adventures. 5'7" previous female rider found it a perfect fit with a 54" top tube. Come give it a spin and see if it's your new ride!

Steel lug frame made in Japan. In excellent condition. Original wheels and tires. Original foam handlebar grips. Rear rack included.

It may be 52 cm c-to-c... but the top tube is going to be a bit of a stretch at 54 inches per the seller....

As Shrevvy says, there weren't many of the Team LeMond Pro bikes built. I imagine only Roland knew for sure, and he's now passed away. I've heard "fewer than one hundred" and "about a hundred" repeated a few times. I wonder how that worked and whether they were pre-ordered in the off-season, or whether the LeMond family/business sent requests to Roland when they came in. The Team LeMond Pro were the only ones built by Della Santa. Most were built by Billato, or -- of course -- Trek in the following iteration of the LeMond brand.

Nice, but now sold. That is not the right decal for the down tube given the construction, though, so it must have had some kind of repaint or refinish.

Just to clear this up a bit. The 3 Team Lemond models were built by Carnelli except for the ones Roland built. The later Greg Lemond decaled bikes were Billato. In the final Billato years the decals changed to just Lemond and then the transition to Trek in 1996 if my memory is correct.

Do you know how to differentiate between the Billato & Carnelli versions spec wise? I just bought a frame last year White with Lemond decals has the pantographing on the stay caps and brake bridge Columbus SL with columbus dropouts and 4 ovals cut in the BB almost could be two "B"s side by side. I am wandering if this might be a Billato frame?

I've never gotten my hands on a Team Lemond yet but these are the three options.

Now the Billato have some pretty distinguishing features.

This brake bridge is one feature

This decal with varying dates based on his wins and the manufacture date of the bike.

This Greg Lemond decal scheme most years

This in the last couple of years. 1993-1995ish range

BB with a frame size stamp and then a tube type stamp underneath. Normally a serial number on the other side.

Seatstay caps

TSDI for the ones imported via the states if not removed in the past.

Thank you! This is exactly what I needed. I have the White frame on the right with white headtube. Mine is a 55 SL. Interesting you can see the BB cutouts that to me look like two capital "B"s on the 54cm BB pic. I really hoped it might be a Della Santa but I Knew deep down it was the Italian version. I really like the quality of the frame and detail work is very clean! Looking forward to having it refurbished.

Well that is the higher end model and the one Della Santa made some of. If he made it then it should have a DS stamped on the BB.

That "large Trek in Michigan" looks like a mid-80s 620, give or take., in 24"... which would work fine. Best of all, it's in Traverse City, where a good friend of mine just moved after he retired from where we'd worked together for 25 years. Might have to ask him to, ahem, facilitate. It's about 3 sizes too big for him, so he wouldn't want it for himself. And I doubt there's much call for this kind of bike, in the middle of winter. The tourists who flock there usually ride $$ bikes.

The kickstand mounted behind the bottom bracket makes me wonder... I got nothing against kickstands.. some of my best friends run kickstands... but I mount mine, when I'm using one, on the seat & chain stay, thank you.

Behind the BB is not a good place to crimp the tubes.

cheers -mathias

I quadruple checked and sadly cant find DS anywhere. There is a bit of chipping and wear from chain rub on the shell drive side tho. On the non drive side are 4 digits vertically with a space and what I think is a 3. I wonder if their is a registry somewhere on serial numbers.

Coincidentally I bought some Della Santa Bottles and a Jersey off Ebay last year and the seller ended up being Rolands Niece. She was the one that ended up with his estate after all the law suits settled from everyone that apparently thought they were owed his stuff. Doesnt sound like it went well at all. She didnt seem to know too much about any of his stuff and I offered to help her in anyway I could if she ever had questions and needed unbiased answers on what she was selling. I cant imagine how overwhelming that mustve been for her. Anyway I got one of the very last official Della Santa wool blend jerseys. At that time she had about 5 left. She donated the remaining bottle inventory to the Reno Wheelman to help them raise money for their club. I thought that was very nice of her to do.

+1, that's a pre-fastback, cable stop on top of the stay, so '82 or earlier. I wonder if this is one of those frames that Trek repaired in-service and painted/badged with the then-latest dress. I wonder if those are more common in southern WI,

I've seen reference somewhere with Roland stating that Carnelli/Bottecchia had built the lower end models, and Scapin built the mid-level models.

Jazzyg72 Pic of my Della Santa bottom bracket as found. I've also heard he built "less than 100," or "about 100," or 150 bikes. My serial number is 117. If he numbered just his bikes, it would appear the "less than 100" is a little low. Regardless of the actual number, he did not build many.

I bought this Lemond out of Reno. The seller stated he knew the original owner and the bike was purchased new locally. This is supposed to be a Scapin built example. Seat stay caps are similar to other Scapin built frames. Components are as purchased except the saddle. I swapped the white Vetta saddle for the white Lemond saddle currently on the bike. Full bike pic, but I could get better detailed pics. Sorry for the thread drift...

Yep, I've seen mention of Scapin too. I think over on the Friends of Greg Lemond they discounted the Scapin link. All I can say for certain is the bookkeeping on the business side of the house for Lemond was not that great. Hard to pin down the actual contract makers, production numbers, etc. At least on the Billato ones they confirm information a lot of the time if you send them pics of the BB and such so they can look it up.

Seller probably a flipper who doesn't know bikes ("frame and fork (full suspension)")
very dirty and probably been sitting a long, long time so if you go check the stem and seatpost!
I believe that mark (photo 3) 2 inches onto the tube tube from lugs is dirt and not a bend.

Vintage UNIVEGA GRAN TURISMO bicycle - $150 (Rialto)

The classic 80's touring bike. The 54 cm steel frame is in great shape. All of the original parts are still on the bike. It works great. This bike is ready for saddle bags and any additional touring equipment. It has new tires.

I will take down the posting once it is sold. If you see this ad then the bike is still available.

Please respond via email to make arrangements to purchase. Serious buyers only. Must pick up. No deliveries. Cash only.
