'81 Miyata 610 - Project Complete
I haven't been here in a while, but I just finished a project that I wanted to share.
I got this 1981 Miyata 610 in the mail a couple of weeks ago. I've been looking for a Miyata with a triple for years, but never got my hands on one until now. It took me a couple weeks to get the needed parts and overhaul the entire bike. The grip tape definitely helps liven-up an otherwise dull paint scheme. The Miyata branded saddle is awesome, but will get swapped for a Brooks shortly. Has anyone tried a colored Brooks? Considering green, but not sure how that will look.
I would have preferred one from the mid-eighties (or the unobtainable 1000), but I'm happy with what I ended up with. It's in great condition and I can't wait for the weather to break so I can put some miles on it and tackle some of the bigger hills we have around here.
Cheers!

Great looking build! It looks to be in amazing condition for being over 40 years old!
(Your gear train may last a little longer if you wipe all of that excess oil off the chain/chainwheels/sprockets).

I had a 610 in a smaller size like that. I read in the catalog it was the same weight as the 1000 (in that size). Mine was probably a different year because it had cantis.

Looks to be in great shape for it's age. I like the black with the gold (or is it silver) lug lining. I have two 610's and a 1000. Miyata's are really nice bikes.
