I think you have to leave it in the fridge for a couple weeks first.

Do y'all know if it's possible to connect two GSC-10 sensors to one Edge 500 head unit? I have two available, and have them mounted on my track bike. Since I recently got a disc, I won't be able to mount a magnet to the disc face (and it would move fore and aft anyway), so I wanted to put a sensor on for the cadence, and another on the front wheel for speed.

I see where you can set the head unit to look independently for a cadence sensor and speed sensor, but I can't seem to get them to play nicely together.

Silicone the magnet to the disc.

I considered that, but when I change cogs or rings, the disc moves fore and aft taking the magnet out of sensor range.

The 500 will detect a speed sensor or a speed/cadence sensor. You can't "shut off" one function of the GSC-10 as far as I know. However you can easily solve your problem with one sensor and multiple rectangular rare earth magnets. Glue a line of them to account for the detection range as the wheel slides along the dropouts, and stack them to account for the height change. Try EBay for magnets. I use Amazing Goop as an adhesive.

I may go that route. I was hoping to avoid putting anything on the disc face, but that may well be the best solution. I wonder if a couple third party ANT+ sensors would do it too.

Amazing Goop adheres well and cleans up well, too. I use a Bontrager speed only sensor on the race bike as the SRM provides cadence.

Get Garmin's new cadence and speed sensor. No magnets! The speed sensor you can connect to the front hub and the cadence just attaches to the crank arm. I picked up one set and just swap between bikes if I need to.

Every day waiting for a new bike to arrive seems like the longest day ever. Hurry the F up.

Also, reading the posts above has made me curious, why does anyone use a speed sensor when they also own a Garmin?

You use a speed sensor because it's calibrated to your wheel circumference, and is therefore more accurate than GPS alone which simply triangulates your position.

I saw the eye doctor yesterday. The prognosis is very positive. The pressure is low, probably too low over time which we will address later, but the permanent vision loss should be halted. Clarity is starting to return as I am weaned off of the drugs. Unfortunately I am banished to at least three more weeks of Fred Life. In the grand scheme of things its a small price to pay but it has been driving me nuts watching my core fitness fade away, with the resultant ache and pains returning, and I can't do squat about it. That's a pun, son.

There was a thread about squats. I think the take away was don't sweat not doing them.

That's good news. The fitness and feeling old part will just make a return to training that much more enjoyable, I hope.

Harder to get accurate data on the track using only gps

I've never had an issue with gps track or speed that I know of anyway. It could be off 40% and I'll never know the difference.

He means on a Velodrome. Smoothing doesn't handle that tight a radius well. You can look at av track file with constant cadence, and therefore constant speed, and see GPS speed bounce like 5 mph.

I may join the sidelines. In a few weeks I'm going to see the doctor that did my ankle surgery. Its fine on the bike and typically doesn't irritate me unless I do over 300 TSS in a 2 day span, however I cannot walk more than 3 miles on uneven surfaces without it being in pain. The sutures left in are irritating the other muscles.

So its a catch 22. I can go the year blowing it off, but I do feel that sometime in the next 5 years I'm going to have to have it operated on.
