Front disk brake question
Hello,
My front disk pads engage on the disk but the wheel just seems to keep spinning round if any weight is on the handlebar.
I changed the brake pads but to no avail.
Does anyone have any ideas what's going on here?
Had the front disk just lost all it's 'grippiness' or something?
Any help gratefully received.

More data please. Brands of brake/lever. Cable or fluid?
At first read I think of the pads not being able to be pressed tightly against the rotor due to some cable or fluid issues. Andy

yes it's a hydraulic system, Tektro 300, and the hydraulics do seem fine, as in, the pads seem to engage quickly enough. They just don't 'bite'.
It feels like the pads aren't biting on the disk.
Or is that a sign of air or water in the brake fluid?

Could be. Most fluid brake companies suggest bleeding and/or replacing the fluid periodically regardless of pad/rotor condition. Andy

I had similar issues with my TRP equipped Sirrus. The lever would not fully engage the brakes before it bottomed out unless I maxed out the reach on the lever. Bleeding the system solved the problem. I used a cheap bleed kit from Amazon.

Thank you for your helpful replies.
It turns out it was the disk itself which was well worn.
Who'd have thought?
It looked totally fine but apparently these things wear down with time and my front brake had become useless.
All fixed now.
Thank you.
Ben.
