1951 Raleigh Clubman 3-Speed

For sale is a grey 1951 Raleigh Clubman. SOLD local pickup in Litchfield, Connecticut. This bike is well-sorted out and is ready-to-ride condition. This is an excellent choice for someone who wants a solid-riding old Clubman but doesn't want to pay the premium for all original paint and graphics. The bike is very attractive and standsout from the blue or red models in that it has a beautiful grey finish.

  • 1951 Sturmey AW Rear hub, aluminum front hub
  • 21-22 inch standard sized men's frame with fancy lugs
  • Frame has been professionally repainted grey.
  • Paint is in excellent shape with just a couple small areas of loss
  • Lloyd's frame and fork graphics - faithful reproductions of original graphics
  • 27 x 1-1/4 Dunlop Special Lightweight Chrome Rims
  • Front spokes original, rear spokes are stainless
  • Blumels aluminum fenders.
  • Rear reflector housing has a mended crack, otherwise is not loose or rattling
  • Vintage fluted aluminum stem, Raleigh Lenton touring handlebars
  • John Bull grips, Newbaum's cloth bar tape
  • Sturmey window shifter with red painted graphics
  • New brake cables and housings, housings even have the classic chrome clips to hold them together
  • GB Sprite aluminum sidepull brake calipers
  • New shifter cable
  • Correct, hard-to-find frame-mounted pulley wheel
  • Recent Panaracer Pasela Tires
  • Fluted Williams cranks and sprocket
  • 22 tooth new Sturmey cog to make climbing hills easier.
  • New SRAM bushingless chain
  • Chrome frame and fork socks in nice shape
  • Comes with TWO SADDLES: a brand new black Brooks for riding, and the old brown Wrights if you want more original. You get both.
  • 1950s Raleigh chrome drop bar brake levers
  • New chrome frame pump - works and fits the pegs.
  • Vintage black Lucas bell - works and fits on stem.

Thanks - the 27 inch wheel size helps size it up a little, but sometimes you just need the tall frame. I'm 5ft 8in and this one fits me well enough, just not riding it as much as my other bikes these days.

Man that's it. If I wasn't 682 miles away I'd be all over it. I've come to the conclusion I will never find a bike like that near me.

The two bikes that he has for sale and the late 30’s roadster, are priced below the cost of restoration.

Someone needs to give them a good home.

Getting those alloy Bluemels to make a nice fender line is worth $100 alone.

Someone needs to buy this bike. Good looking bikes from the 50s don't show up every day. GLWS.

I replied to your PM about this bike and the Phillips roadster. Let me know if you did not receive it.

For those who are unaware, this model was only made in a 22" frame size, so you can't be picky with these! Lovely example, but I reserve the right to make 23" my minimum with the exception of prewar machines!
