October Goal: 150 (revised to 230)
10/1: 16.5
10/3: 16.4
10/5: 16.7
10/7: 16.7
10/9: 16.3
10/11: 17.1
10/13: 16.5
10/15: 16.6
10/17: 16.4

MTD: 149.2
YTD: 1172.4

Looks like I need to up my goal, although I have to travel for work this week and won't get a chance to ride again before 10/22. I'm going to shoot for 230 miles.

Finally starting to feel like fall here too, after a very warm October so far. Tonight it was about 55F when I left for my ride and maybe 52F when I got back. Experimenting with clothing (I've never cycled in the colder weather). I've found two light long sleeve layers and shorts is still adequate.

Haven't been tracking my miles since I finished my tour in September, but they have not been many. Took a bit of a break and have only been riding locally for transportation.

Got this planned for a five-day starting on Sunday:

Dashboard · Ride with GPS

Not shown is the ferry ride to Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, DE for an additional two nights of camping and probably a day ride to Rehoboth for lunch. Train ride back to Philly from Atlantic City. Long range forecast looks to be mostly dry with highs in the mid 60s. Nights in 50s. Nice tenting weather.

Participated in a weekly installment of Slow Roll Cleveland last night. They weren't kidding - average speed as clocked on Strava was 6.8mph, which included me pedaling fast to catch the route after pulling off to have a beer and take a whiz! Several mechanicals for folks along the way - thrown chains, etc. - glad I was not one of them. We rode past my pals' shop who built up my Ragley frame and sold me my Kona...

Been dealing with low energy levels on and off for a couple of months. Took a couple of light days over the past week and missed a couple days riding this month. Had a really strong ride this morning. I held 200 watts for 90 minutes, which for me, especially lately, is pretty strong. I'll probably be wiped out tomorrow again.

Thanks. Should be, although it’s now looking like the first night could drop down close to 40 degrees in the forest.

Cape Henlopen was originally a military base established to guard the Delaware Bay from Nazi invasion. Several years after WWII ended the feds donated it to the state for a state park. Very bike-friendly place with trails and lanes.

Thanks , by incident, I was referring to the past two Octobers , Halloween 2019 I had a crash that banged me up pretty good , then the middle of last October, I was turning around in a cul-de-sac and front tire slips into where the edge of the curb and pavement meets and spun my handlebars around and I face planted falling on the bars .
I’m paranoid about riding during October.
My blood thinner they have me on for my Afib has my stomach messed up and I somehow pulled my abs working on my fishing boat and trailer . Pulling the boat on and off the trailer and carrying a deep cycle battery in and out of the garage.
Ten years ago none of this would have been a problem.

Back from a week of work travel, and got a couple of rides in this past weekend, but now another break as really lousy weather up here through Wed. If I can get in rides on Thurs, Sat, and Sun, I think I can just make my revised goal.

Temps might finally hit the 40's before November gets here.

Finally a break in the Nor'easter rain. But another major storm coming Saturday.

Tonight I learned there is a big difference between riding at 50F and 45F. Gloves, windproof jacket, and pants were fine. Need to add a cap under my helmet and some warmer socks.
