Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was riding the Bianchi mostly then, with its FSA crank that has a wide Q-factor. Then I upgraded the Ritchey with the 7410 Dura Ace cranks with a really narrow Q-factor and mostly rode that, and the pain went away.

The scientist in me said I should start riding the Bianchi again to see if the pain came back, but discretion is the better part of valor.

Even scientists are capable of one-trial learning, when the outcome is aversive enough. Take, for example, my FIRST thesis defense.

Korean government will then send exemption e-mail to me (?). Then on arrival will be required to be tested, load an app and then be quarantined for 2 days.

Added to this found out I will eventually need to drive...luckily jobsite is not near Seoul....which means need to apply for a rush International Driver Permit. Adding to the excitement is that my Passport expirers with-in 6 months of travel which can cause problems such as airlines not letting one on the airplane. Normally we could rush a Passport application within 1 week, but with Covid 19 looking at 4-5 weeks.

All of this for the opportunity to work 14 days straight at a minimum of 10-12 hours per week. Luckily I do like it over there, with getting equipment up and running being especially fulfilling when working with people in their home countries.
That sounds like a blast.

For some reason, I was under the impression some countries required you to pay for a funeral prior to entry. I know some airlines are now offering that service.

What a great time to be alive!

Mine was a non-issue on the bike this afternoon. But if I sit in a chair for a while, then stand up, the first few steps in particular are like "wut".

Mine was kinda like that. Worse for walking and sitting than for riding, frankly. Terrible when getting up in the morning. Pretty bad after sitting a while. REALLY bad if I was sitting at an angle, like watching TV in the recliner.

Riding actually made it feel better.

I had to look that up...yes Cambodia requires a deposit. Emirates airline offer free funeral insurance if one is unfortunate.
My company has to pay lodging fees while I'm in the government quarantine facility, but that is it. If test positive then it is two weeks in country treatment - not out of the possibility as my boss is now in isolation after testing positive last week

I figure the pandemic is over because I started to go in to our local Casey's convenience store but counted 7 maskless patrons just inside the crowded store as well as the cashier. They must know something that I don't but I didn't go in anyway.

Wow, you remember more than I do. All I remember is that I had to step over the conveyor to get to another part of the basement and also hearing it occasionally rumble.

No, not even that - names can be worth quite a bit in knives - it's just that they don't look like terribly good knives. The edge profile on the chef's knife looks wonky with that high, upswept tip, the handles don't look like they'd be terribly comfy for a pinch grip (which is the most popular hold that provides good control), they don't talk about/show pics that give you an insight in to blade thickness, distal taper, grind geometry, etc. which are all very important to performance. Basically, they look like flashy knifes for and by people that don't know knives.

This exactly. I remember the stoker word being bandied about but, being so young, of course didn't know what it meant.
And, that first house I ever lived in was a log cabin, covered over in grey asbestos? shingles.

133 days over 100° this year. 11 more to snag the record.

Tucson hit 100 over 100° today, which is a new record for them.

I do not like stump removal.

Wife found copper head skin in a bush she was trimming today. Everybody in a 10 mile radius probably assumed she was being murdered.

For the doctors here, my buddy is an anesthesiologist, he said that the top 5 percent of every class becomes dermatologists because it’s easy and pays the most. Thoughts?

He wasn’t top 5 percent.
