Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Haven't been to an IHOP since I was a kid. Typically try to avoid fast food places such as Burger King, McDonald's, etc. Will hit a sandwich shop such as Jersey Mike's on occasion.

Rain rolled in around noon. And dumped many inches. Only rain; no thunder and lightning. Wild. Seventh day of afternoon rain in a row. We're trying to get a roof on the woodshop extension. Half days aren't cutting it. Hopefully tomorrow. There are lakes out there. The village streets have been under water, at intersections, for days.

Yeah-No. If you're going to be self coached, that's the first thing you need to divorce yourself from.

Went to a BK a few years ago during a long weekend tour because the Wawa across the street was closed for renovation. Ordered a couple of breakfast sandwiches. The sodium content was off the charts, and I started belching before I finished the first one.

Sometimes sitting at the bar at Denny's is A-OK. I think they call it the bar?

I'd call it a counter. Unless there's booze!

The Denny's up the road here had a cocktail bar in it til the late 90s when they changed it into more dining area.

There you go. That sounds better. I think we had one that served cocktails around here, as well.

Hurt isn't so bad. You can do it.

Are these like 110/90 over/unders? I think that mine are usually 105/95, but the 95 still feels like rest, relative to the 105.

115/95 for 2',1',1', 2', x3 with 6' at 55% in between.

I did a recovery/endurance-level ride yesterday (with a couple sprints and about 10' at FTP just for fun) yesterday, and my legs feel better today than they did on Wednesday, so we'll see what happens tonight. I think I need to find a more effective warmup routine. The feeling just before I quit reminded me of how I felt one time where I tried to do a PR on a 5 mile segment with no warmup, and just as my HR was hitting the mid-160s I REALLY felt like crap, but later in that same ride I had no problem at all pushing 170. I've read that your warmup should include getting your HR as high as you expect it in your event, though I don't know if that applies to before interval training.

Understood. When one has to upload a file for review, that escape key is a distant memory.

Yesterday was the third day of VO2 in a row, and I was ready to hit that same key. 8x3' with 3 minutes rest in between. The first minute of the three minutes was full gas, then the remaining two minutes was 105-115%. No cheating either, as I had to hit lap after the first 1'. I was expected to hit a PR on one of those 1' shots, as well. Close, but not quite.

Totally unrelated to anything, but did you know that if you google "cities in Ohio that start with c", you get a list of them?
