Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Don’t worry. I am unlikely to spend that much for a pair of off-season wheels. Will scrounge for something eventually.

Why would you want to afflict yourself with anything worse at your advanced age and at that price? The damn things will outlast you too!

Mrs. GeneJockey is sending me listings on Realtor that are in Buffalo NY. I remember how much snow falls there. I think her plan is to have us retire there, then kill me with snow shovelling the first winter, sell up and move somewhere else.

That is not retiring. Nobody lives in Buffalo unless they have to.

We still want to retire to Andalucía but life has become quite complicated so not likely. More realistic is spend a few months there each winter but stay in NE the rest of the year. That’s assuming covid situation better in a few years, of course.

Yes. Too much uncertainty to make firm plans.

They'll be drinking Betadine next, if they haven't already started.

A couple guys I know have Psimet wheels. One of them is 265 pounds and the wheels have been durable. Plus, Rob seems like a good guy and I have chatted with him on BF for years.

You're right, they don't have a lot of rules. A friend linked me to a car mechanic page on there. After reading it for a while I joined in. Some of the guys are really funny! I identify with a lot of their stories, having spent decades in the business, and I've shared some of my experiences with them.

The pages there spawn other pages, or "subs". Like the mechanics post pictures of customer cars with trash inside, and another whole sub starts called "Carbage".
