20min, 10min, 5min after lunch. Windy tossy cross wind. Bumpy. U-turn at the 20min interval halfway screwed by dopey slow cars.

Good speed per power with just road kit on the TT bike. HR was elevated and power down a touch due to a lot warmer temps. Need to start sitting outside to work and do stuff to adapt a bit heat wise.

Either way, work got done. Only true failure was not enough rest between the 20 and 10min set. The 10min set power suffered for it. I rested proper for the last 5min set and power was better. Doh!

Team ride on Sunday which was the first group ride in a year. We did the SDBC route from the bike shop.

Today was TTT Tuesdays, road bikes, doing 3x12minutes (30” on, 1” off) and then 2 laps of TTT.

Great day at Fiesta, no fast guys other than a junior on a TT bike who looked like he might be fast. I suspect all the fast guys were done at Fiesta and on to Soledad repeats.

Is this a thing? It also seems like it could just challenge your hydration around the clock while elevating your HR the whole day. I can see it either way, but wondering if it's more than placebo (e.g. studies?)

It would take a longer hunt, and this is too specific for me to have made up...but as it warms the body sends plasma volume or water away from the muscles driving you forward to instead perspire and cool you. I thought along those lines a heat adapted person will carry a slightly larger plasma volume?

Cool, that was enough to find some breadcrumbs that make it seem so: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK231117/

I wrote this long tirade about World's last night but ended up deleting it because it was more 'venting status' than training status.

Tuesday morning Fiesta hammerfest group ride + commute yesterday, PTO day today so I could practice my z2 skills for 6 hours. Off Thursday, easy Friday and then moderate (<150 TSS) days over the weekend. I got my volume in today so I think I'll keep them both in the 2-2.5 hr range. Right now I'm thinking a couple zwift races and/or climbs on Saturday, and some long intervals outside on the TT bike on Sunday.

I think the Fiesta Island TT series that we put on in May was cancelled, which I am bummed about. I was really looking forward to preparing for the 20k ITT and testing myself at it. I'm in good shape and should be able to post a fast time, especially with some focused preparation. Damn.

Getting my 2nd pfizer shot this morning then doing 90min z2, sounds like a good idea lol To be fair, my parents didn't experience any side effects and my wife was briefly feverish the next day, so I'm optimistic. Fortunately this is a recovery week so no real intense training until next week

215 TSS gravel ride. Did a loop they setup but got no segment recognition. Womp womp.

Either way, that park it is a bit of poor form how some of those dudes are riding in there. They're clearly taking aggressive lines where there is no sight line for oncoming. Idiots going to get somebody killed way they're riding in there. Plenty of open space otherwise to hammer. Some of the segment stuff is just silly.

First thing every morning I do my Spanish flashcards (I'm going somewhere with this..) I have 11,000 total and do 75-150 a day. The days I get under 15% wrong, I'm locked in, but days when I get over 20% wrong, I know I'm off...even if I feel good.

Today I got 25% wrong....

It was supposed to be a smash day, but it looks like I'm going to take it easy. These days are pretty rare since I generally go to bed early but I just couldn't sleep last two nights.

They do that on our gravel ride as well, and Worlds. There's a blind corner at World's people rail at 35-40 mph, and at times there are cars. About 1 guy gets hit a year, so far no fatalities. That's the one turn I'm okay with being dropped, but its pretty easy to latch back on there.

Hoping you get back to feeling yourself soon! I’m kind of thinking of doing the wells Ave crit on Sunday (because I’ll surely have success being able to do little more than maintain 260-270 for a really long time lol) but if I end up feeling lousy I’ll have to focus on recovery because I’d rather be ready for the next training block than prob getting dropped in a short crit!

so I noticed my bike has 42cm bars, for some reason I thought I had 40. I used 38cm bars on my old bike and I could probably pull it off, but I’m thinking of going to 40 and maybe getting something aero and see if I can get any marginal gains out of that. I’m actually quite happy with my fit and would rather be comfortable than a little faster so I think the smaller drop would be better. Not even sure if it’s even “worth” it but it gives me something to think about lol

Fiesta TT bike 4x(90” z6 with 5' RBI) and then one lap. I am getting ready for a track workout the second week of May and working on high end. Next I need to get my leg speed back by focusing on higher cadence. Today, was a chainless day on the TT bike and the weather superb.

I was a bit achy and fatigued on day 2 (Moderna) but nothing too major. Even went on a chill coastal ride later,

I was tired and achy the day after my 2nd shot and thought I felt fine by the next day. On day 3 I went for a ride and felt good in Z2/3, but as soon as I put out a hard effort I felt terrible. I kept the ride easy, and by day 5 I feel back to my mediocre self.

My Moderna recap is: Came home and fell asleep for a couple of hours after shot 1 and the next day had a sore arm. After shot 2, fell asleep after the shot for a couple of hours and the next day had a sore arm, headache, slight body aches and tired. No cycling / gym the day after 2nd shot.

I got my first shot of AstraZeneca 9 days ago and felt almost nothing. Little bit of injection site soreness the next day but otherwise fine.

Did the local hammer ride; decided to do the easy route (B) group since I haven't actually finished a group ride this year and I needed a win albeit minor. Took a pull, then someone said, 'Left!' and I almost missed the turn, after that I just stayed in the back lol.

One heavy set guy at the front tried to drop off, and another rider yelled at him, "You stay there! You wanted to be up here take your turn!" That's why I don't do this ride very often, too many of those guys, but I have to; can't get lighter, can't get much faster, I have to be more efficient now.

18 months off the road has taken its toll; last week I couldn't even ride with my arms off the bars, so even though though the B ride is 'easy' I have to kinda progress up to the A which power wise I can handle now its just the other stuff I'm simply a bit off.

Oh, I rode arms off the bars for 2 blocks today....baby steps.

I hate that. First of all, that’s a real jerk thing to say, second it’s inefficient. Constant rotation works best for a big group. Third, it’s a jerk thing to say.
