Is this frame a Colnago?

Hello guys!

Came across this frame and fork and got my attention. The seller asks 100euros.
He said he sold the equipment separately and it was Campagnolo.
The frame, fork and BB havea total weight of 2870 gr.
Is this a Colnago or... ?
Would really appreciate some thoughts on this and also a possible value?

Regards,

Don't think it had Campy components. Seat tube Dura-Ace sticker and a Dura-Ace BB. The BB could have been replaced, but likely not the sticker.

As far as components, the sticker declares it originally came with Dura Ace, but that doesn't mean it couldn't have been switched out for Campy. So maybe they are remembering correctly. As far as whether it is a Colnago, I'm no Colnago expert, but there are things about it that don't appear to be correct. I'd like to see a closeup of the fork crown. Not the type I associate with Colnago.

I don't know if it's a Colnago, but it appears to be a well made frame with Campagnolo dropouts and no major flaws like dents, so I think it is almost definitely worth the asking price of 100 Euro. If it turns out to be a Colnago, that will be a bargain. I would be going to get this now if it was near me.

Lug cutouts appear to be those of Martelly, a Belgium company started in the 1930s by ex-pro cyclist Eddy Martens and still owned by his faimily. They have made frames for a number of pro teams over the years. Portacatena dropouts should put it circa 1978-1983, though many builders had excess stock after that date.

Edit: BB has April 1980 date code, which fits well with Portacatena era, so frame is probaly circa 1981. Frame appears well made with nice lug thinning, though BB shell is rather plain and there are no tangs on the chainstay bridge. In some aspects it looks high grade but in others it appears mid-range.

+1 on it being a Martens frame. Not sure about that fork, though. Suspect it might be a replacement.

Shimano decal also likely original, as the Belgians were early European adopters. Flandria gave Shimano their first TdF stage win in 1973, I believe.

More info on Martens is here.

Nice frame, BTW. These were well-regarded by the local racing crowd BITD, I've been told. €100 seems quite reasonable to me.

Not a Colnago.

Wrong bottom bracket cutout, and round stem of the clover seems incorrect.

I'm not familiar with Martins, but that seems plausible.

Here is a good page here:
https://saarf.london/2013/02/19/how-...-fake-colnago/

Probably not as much a "fake" as misidentified (as long as it has no badges).

Plus 1^ CliffordK

The bottom bracket is wrong for a Colnago. There were many fakes going around in the 70s....maybe longer....

Bottom brackets on Colnagos had 9 holes in the early models pre 1971 or 72. Then the " Ace of Club" logo was used.

The frame is definitely worth 100 !!! EASY !!!

Thanks for your time and help, people!
Upon further study, I too agree it's a Martelly.

Im pretty sure it is a Martelly built frame , I have a similar one with the same "clover" cutouts on the lugs in the same shade of metallic dark red with the same Bottom Bracket.

Mine is decal'ed as a DIAMANT. MIne has internal top tube cable guides , Chrome rear triangle , Campy dropouts and a Race number braze on.

If the bike fits, 100 euros is a decent price. You could tell the seller it’s not a Colnago and offer 50 and see what happens.
