Got in a shorter ride yesterday afternoon, only 16.94 miles logged. Those north winds were kind of chilly, and the clear skies and sunshine promised never materialized. I don't care much for being blown across traffic lanes while the school's home bound traffic is getting heavy, so I took what I feel is my safest route for the conditions and at least got in some saddle time. No complaints, its been a good year, as far as my riding is concerned.

There have been breaks in the series of storms that have run through our area lately, thereby allowing for unfendered rides on fast bikes.

Hopefully the trend will continue, god willing.

edit: ooops that didn't attach well.

Rode the Roubaix Wednesday for 15.6 and Friday 18.9 all bundled up against the cold. But it's clear and mostly sunny. Heavy winds (50-60mph) Thursday, last 3 miles today in 12mph+ but it sure felt good to be on the rode bike again.

Yesterday afternoon, 27.35 miles, beautiful day out, after the front had moved through, and the winds had died back a bit. Looking at a nice weekend here, clear skies, very mild/cool temps, and light to calm winds.

Brrrrr - can't wait for winter to get here (officially Dec 21) so it'll warm up. 29° this AM - 14.9 on the Allez . Toes are froze even with thermal socks. Gloomy and overcast, cut the ride short.

16 miles this afternoon. Mid-40's (the temp, not me) and cloudy but the sun did peek out. First ride since last Sunday. First week without at least one bike commute since sometime last Spring.

Saturday afternoon, 27.39 miles, mild temps, some NNE winds, and almost no humidity. Made for a good ride.

30.15 slow and easy miles in 15/20mph winds. Haven't recuperated from last Sunday's Space Coast Half Marathon where 13yo grandson beat grandpa to the finish line and then plenty more miles walking the deck and stairs of Disney's Dream cruise ship. The cruise was supposed to be a surprise but wife told me about it to lift my spirits after I had to drop out of Ironman 70.3 Florida following my prostate biopsy that confirmed prostate cancer. She did keep the fact that we had concierge level for the cruise and when I found out I was blown away.

16.2 miles on the Roubaix. Much warmer today, 46° at the start. A bit windy but it didn't really get bad until the moment I got home.
One of the brads holding the front derailleur mounting bracket pulled loose from the carbon fiber frame. Not supposed to happen (yeah, right) so as a semi-permeant fix I wedged a small zip tie around the loose brad to keep it from moving. Shifting fine. Apparently there's no easy fix for this so semi-permeant may become permeant.

Rode down to watch a little bit of a cyclocross race then back home, about 47.5 miles total. I don’t think it ever got over 48°F, but it was sunny.

As we were driving up to near Zionsville for the CIBA Jolly St. Nick Ride, we noticed cyclocross activity by the Major Taylor Velodrome. Will have to check that out sometime.

Pretty good turnout for the club ride - we rode the 'long' (for December) 35 mile route on the Screamer. Yes, the weather was about as good as can be expected for December. Don't remember ever riding on as many bricks as we found in downtown Zionsville near the end of the ride.

Just shy of 20 miles Sunday afternoon, the farthest I've ridden with the shortest rest stops since resuming riding three months ago. Some meandering on side roads and gravel trails. All uphill - gradual roller coaster grade - against headwinds to the halfway point, so the turnaround was a breeze. Asthma is still the main hindrance, but my legs are much stronger and my recovery times are way down, from 15 minutes to a minute, before I can catch my breath and start again. I stop a lot to take photos (not just selfies) so it's easy to find excuses to catch my breath.

Goal for next week - Weatherford, a 40 mile round trip.

Rest stop.

Sunday afternoon, beautiful day, warming up now and light winds are back. 27.4 miles again. Supposed to be warming the entire week, its forecast to be in the low 70s today. and towards the mid'70s for the entire week. Next front is supposed to be Sunday, so its time to take advantage of conditions and get some miles in before the change arrives.

We took the tandem out for 49.9 miles on Saturday, a quick run out for lunch. A lovely day.

Yesterday I took the Motobecane out into the wild, 51.3 miles. A lovely day too.

Overcast and gloomy but in the mid 40s. Seemed like a good day for the trike 17.7 miles @avg 11mph. Takes a bit more leg than a rode bike (huff-puff) but I like riding the beast.

Monday afternoon's ride was 25.55 miles, gorgeous weather yesterday. Its supposed to stay this way the entire week, front isn't due here, until Saturday evening/Sunday morning. I intend on taking full advantage of this, in order to make my 7K miles goal for the year. it is within range, as long as I don't get lazy, or start dinking around. Doctor's appointment this morning, hopefully its nothing found in the labs I had done, and that nothing we discuss is on the bad side of things. We shall see.....

15.6 on the Roubaix in moderate (34-46°) temperatures. Sweatshirt and light (bright) bike jacket w/mittens. Supposed to be a big storm Thursday that will dump 1-3 ft of snow in the mountains. Dunno how much of that will hit the valley floor but I might need to take a day or two off riding .

Can't expect a nicer December day for commuting: Upper 30's in the AM and 50's in the PM. And dry. 20 miles.

We are still having some unusually warm, mild weather here, took full advantage of the nice conditions and got in 25.5+ miles. The winds were messing with me, I had a crossing headwind on my outbound leg, and it turned to a headwind on the way home. It was a quick swap, from the NNW, to the SW in just about 30 mins. time. Nothing gusty, just a manageable 5-10 mph, but that was a fast change of directions without being in some storm conditions, or a fast moving cold front.
