TRP for cyclocross, made 2 versions of mini V brake calipers, with the arm length a 4mm difference..
It does not seem to be a vast difference to me .

but this forum gives expression to obsessive types..

You are talking a lot about a topic of which you clearly know very little. There is nothing 'obsessive' about not wanting your brake levers to bottom out on the handlebar prior to achieving max braking.

5-6 years a slave wrench.

Chill out dudes. We're not actually designing the darn brake.

Actually my question was not for using it with older levers, but with current-pull-but-not-the-latest Shimno 105-5700. I guess I have to find bike fitted with these components to try, but they are nowhere to be found here. And I'm not plowing 200$ on brake calipers that don't feel perfect when their half priced counterpart is usually considered doing the trick.

Heh maybe Hope was on track with their leaky under-stem-reservoir thingy... (priced an ultegra groupset...)

Not the full brake, but I did design a fix for the lever pull issue (hence some of my passion for the subject):

Shimano lists the 105 5700 levers as both 'new Super SLR' and 'Super SLR' depending on which document you view (see links below). My guess is that those levers will have sub-optimal pull for use with a stock HY/RD caliper given that only the SLR-EV levers seem to pull enough cable for them. Feel free to ask any questions about my conversion arms which will straighten that in about 5 minutes per caliper.

What's my deal?

In general, to inform the readership here that lots of things work well in reality, despite the naysayers.

And in particular, to counter redlude97's statement of
"it doesn't work so well with older shifters or campy"
because it was incorrect, as demonstrated by the linked youtube video and by my personal experience.

What's your deal?
In particular, what did you contribute to this thread?

Way to take that statement out of context without providing any caveats. So you've contributed nothing to this thread as well
