Shimano Hollowtech removal

Hello

I need to take off the cranks and replace the bottom bracket on my bicycle. Since I am not an expert, I watched few videos on Youtube explaining the process and recommending buying the two tools that I am waiting for to arrive.

amazon.de/gp/product/B000BS7XJ2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
amazon.de/gp/product/B000RW71AS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

However, once I saw how my bottom bracket looks, I am unsure if I bought the right tools and how to take the bottom bracket off. Any manuals or help on how to remove these types of brackets? Thanks.

You have "Hollowtech I" Which will be either a square taper BB or Octalink BB. Octalink come in a V1 and V2 version as well.

Look on the back of your crank arm and see what model the crank is . Should say something like FC-MXXX

Thank you. I guess I have Octalink type, so the bottom bracket should be taken off using TL-UN66. I managed to unscrew the crank using a hexagon wrench 10 mm. However, the cranks would not come off, so I guess I need an additional tool. Yesterday I ordered TL-FC 10 with an adapter TL-FC15 to be able to work on Octalink cranks. However, in the Shimano manual, there is not an exact description of how to work with these tools, and if they are suitable for Octalink as well.

Park tool equivalents are usually cheaper than the shimano tool

AFAIK, all Hollowtech I cranks use an Octalink bottom bracket of either V-1 (most road cranks) or V-2 (most MTB cranks) format. A standard square taper crank puller with an adapter to fill in the hollow spindle hole can be used to pull them.

My hybrid has a hollowtech FC-M510 Deore hollowtech square taper crank. But yes it uses a standard crank puller. I've heard a dime works for an adaptor.

blackarrow1990 as these guys have said, you can get off Octalink I with a "regular" crank puller, by using a dime or as I did, a 10mm socket.
Threads in the past about it here:

Hmmm, yes, I looked it up and indeed it is called a Hollowtech and does indeed use a square taper bb. I guess "Hollowtech" in this case refers to the casting process used for the crankarms.
