The Commute That Never Was Chapter 2...

At the end of 2020, the company I worked for closed, and so ended my 28 years of daily by commuting. I began to freelance and work for myself from home, getting bike rides in whenever I could.

In the summer of 2021 I bought a folding bike which is something I had always wanted to do. It kept me riding and I rode it to the building where I worked Which I think of as the commute that never was.

This summer I bought a utility trailer for the bicycle, and this afternoon I rode it to my former place of business. This is the commute that never was chapter 2.

Where as I had upgraded the 2007 Dahon Boardwalk 7 speed into a very comfortable fast commuter... My 1997 Nishiki Blazer 21 speed mountain bike commuter is pretty heavy to begin with, and adding a 30 pound trailer just exacerbates the situation. It's not so noticeable on the 9 mile ride downhill to the office to the office, but but the uphill ride home was quite literally a drag... although I really did enjoy it!

I don't know, I bought it used for just $30.

I notice in the photo the tub has shifted rearward, and in fact, a shot while later at a stop light I dismounted to take a look and put it back in place. I may need to add a pin or two to secure it further.
