Leather bike saddle, take inside for winter?
I have a Selle Anatomic H series saddle on my Trek 520 touring bike. I live in the northeast where we have some cold winters so I do not ride outside until April. My Trek is in my garage, should I pull the seat off and bring it inside?
My first thought was no since I have leather seats on my car and it certainly sits in the cold all the time
Thoughts?

I leave mine in an unheated garage all winter. I did have mice nibble on one seat once. No serious damage though. I don't think cold affects it at all. The seat had almost 50K miles/80,000 Km on it.

Right now I have four Brooks saddles on bikes in my garage, unheated. Right now it is 1 degree (F) outside. I have a mouse trap in the garage. Have not caught one for months.
My Volvo also has leather seats, that is outside, not in the garage. The bikes, canoes, and kayak take precedence over the Volvo when it come to pampering, that is why they are in the garage.

In the past when storing a brooks seated bike in outside temps, I have just removed the seatpost to have inside, takes just a minute and not a big deal.
Figured it was easier just doing this and no real downside, plus I didnt have to worry about losing the nice seat if theft occurred.

I've been leaving leather saddles "outside" (in an enclosed, locked garage) for years. Winter weather doesn't damage them. What kills a leather saddle is riding it long while wet, either sweat or heavy rains IME.
