WHICH BIKE: 2020 Cannondale CAAD 13 Force AXS v 2023 Canyon Ultimate CF SL 8
Hi all, as the title says, in a bit of a predicament if I should buy a used Cannondale or a new Canyon.

- 2020 Cannondale CAAD 13 (used) - SRAM Force eTap AXS groupset, Cannondale Hollowgram 45mm dish carbon wheels, SRAM Quarq power meter - $4400 CAD
- 2023 Canyon Ultimate CF SL 8 (new) - Shimano Ultegra R800 groupset, DT Swiss Performance wheels, Shimano 4iii Precision Power meter- $4600 CAD (give or take)

I'd go for the one that you can try out and see if you like the fit. And that's probably the Caad. But the price seems a tad high for a 3 year old bike. Possibly not much if any lower than the 2020 MSRP.

If you ride with winter gloves a lot, SRAM should be easier to use. The used bike choice would depend a lot on how used it is. Bike values drop to half of MSRP quickly. A new CAAD 13 with Rival is about $4600 CAD.

I have a CAAD12/Ultegra and bought a new Factor Ostro. I love the CAAD, but based my personal experience with the Factor, the Canyon is likely the big upgrade from your CAAD13. I also happen to think your CAAD pricing is rather stiff.

I'd go with the newer one as long as it's R8070 or R8170. Ultegra is better than Force IMO.

Personally, If I am spending more than 2 grand on a bike, I would want to buy it from a reputable bike shop. That way when issues a rise, which they will, you already have a relationship with the shop and that is extremely helpful. Speaking from my experience, having the relationship with my bike shop has saved me a lot of money.
Canyons make great bikes, but I hear horrible things about their customer service. I used to own an old CAAD and have been wanting to build a CAAD 13 for a while.

There are a lot more bells and whistles on the CAAD vs the Canyon, but it is a 3 year old bike and the price is a bit high.
I’d never buy a Cannondale if I wanted to swap wheels around with other bikes (non Cannondale) the way they’re offset it won’t work.

I thought that would be more of an issue with the super six not the CAAD, but I could be mistaken.

Wheels all have the tire centered between the 142mm frame spacing. The rotor can't vary much either. That leaves the cassette position that's not the same? Hubs have to built to a specification, otherwise you couldn't buy another brand of wheel or hub and expect it to fit.

As far as I know, the only Cannondale bikes that have offset rear wheel specs are their cyclocross/gravel bikes and MTB. I believe all of their road bikes run standard wheelsets.

The only Cannondale bike I’d be interested in is the Supersix SE, which is offset. Given that, I assumed the regular Supersix is as well as the CAAD we’re.

I'd actually love if Cannondale made a proper road bike with this geometry so that I could interchange wheels easier. My next CX bike will be standard offset. .

Pros for the Canyon: New, warranty, carbon frame
I'd get the best combo of geo + price. I don't think weight will be all that different between the two. And if price is limiting the Cannondale as the pick I'd try negotiating it down.

I have a CAAD 12 (105) and my wife has a Canyon Ultimate CF SLX (DI 2). I have ridden hers. I love both of them. If they both fit you then (to me) it's the one you like to look at.
