Battery mounted on water bottles screws would disappear in minutes or damaged from bring kicked off if you left your bicycle unattended. Tis better to have stealth battery bicycle frame, to have battery inside down tube made for battery storage. The exposed battery is not good for shopping or cafe visits.

I built this a little over a year ago. A 1999 Intense Tracer frame that I rescued from oblivion and gave it a new life. The cargo bike tires only lasted a short while after this trip and were replaced by Maxxis Aggressors. Handlebars here are an old leftover titanium bar I was hoping to be able to use. Ended up changing to an Ergotec Space bar as my wrists have never been the same after getting hit by a car a few years ago and have to have bars with backsweep. the Bomber fork is from 2000 and another resurrection. All new seals and it works like a charm. New Fox shock as I couldn't save the original. Box 2 extra wide derailleur with single shifter. Microshift 11-46 steel cluster to take whatever the mid drive can throw at it.
Tossed it into the back of the wagon for its maiden vboyage as you see in the pics below. Rode it daily and charged with solar at the campsite for a full week.

Cannondale Topstone Neo
Here's my Cannondale Topstone Neo SL. Weighs 33 pounds. Great to ride with no assist. Turn on the assist for hills and headwinds. Love it.

Cannondale Tesoro Neo SL EQ
Here is my Cannondale Tesoro Neo SL EQ. (Super Light, Equipped). I have the Mahle Range Extender external battery installed here. This was on a bike camping trip. I've made quite a number of modifications to the stock bike. Right now I'm using the Tesoro Neo as my touring/commuting/family riding bike. The Topstone, above, is my solo go-fast bike.

Almost perfect. Rising water levels mean certain areas of the coast have become more flooded, so I had to turn back after I took the pics on the top. The sand/dirt road has pockets of water deeper than any fat bike can traverse. So different from when I last rode through the back roads area.

Yes, with Tesla, Samsung, and Panasonic on the verge of manufacturing the new solid state batteries the cycling community will have many exciting developments we as riders will enjoy in the next 5 years. I also presume the motor manufactures will not be asleep either and maybe we will get much cheaper electric motors that will provide same power in half the size/weight of the current motors and torque sensors, instead of the cheap cadence sensors.
I have lighten my KBO Stealth Hurricane version 1 to carry up and down 3 flights of stairs. 4 or 5 pounds lighter does not seem much, but it certainly is easier with a 32 pound rather than a 37 pound bicycle. I would have liked to have purchased a Ribble, Giant, Specialized, Trek or Orbea carbon fiber eBike in the 24-26 pound weight class, but my pocketbook will never provide the cash needed for the expensive light weight offerings from the major Bike manufactures. I find it funny to listen to many of the YouTube reviewer talk about 40 or 50 pound eBikes as being light weigh, when they are double the weight of what the cycling industry already has available to consumers. My 32 pound single speed belt driven eBike does 43 miles on the lowest power level on smooth pavement - flat routes. When I can increase the battery density to enjoy a 60 mile range my eBike will be almost perfect for me on the rides I enjoy.

Even when I climb my local hills, the view may be big, but less than spectacular. Glad for the motor assist at the end of the day to climb (crawl) home.

Picked up a Ride1Up for cheap, 13 mi. on the odometer under $500.
Ditched the stock handlebar for something in my basement that I've been wanting to try:
Still under 50 lb.
Put about 15 miles on it yesterday, satisfying.

My almost 20 year old Trek electrified. Neither of the two potential problems: 1) thick aluminum frame tubes which wouldn't accommodate the BBS02 motor and 2) how the PAS wire would "stretch" when the suspension was activated, were issues.

(I know; it'll hurt if I try to ride this). Anyway, I had the parts and 52V battery and was bored, so I purchased a 1500w motor (it's a beast) from YESCOM for $275. The 35 amp controller @ 52V provides 1800 or so watts, and while I need a speedometer to determine the speed, it's too fast for me, which from previous tests means > 35 mph on flat terrain. The weight is 45 pounds plus an 8 or so pound battery, so just over 50. Wheels 26" rear and 27.5" front. The battery fits in a large water bottle cage on the downtube. The $275 was well spent since I might have purchased one of the "Wired Freedom-type" bikes if this weren't around for 35 mph cravings.
