70 minutes super easy last night. I don't typically ride on Mondays, but I think im going to start doing an easy ride on the trainer until I get back to needing Monday's off. I was feeling particularly lazy after work so I figured riding would be better than sitting around doing nothing...

Easy rides do wonders for my blood sugar levels. 117ap and when I was done my sugar was 93..which is awesome.

I am digging the new plyo safe boxes at our gym for box jumping. Besides having padded sides and offering a larger landing area. there is give in the box when I land. I land soft anyway but landing on these boxes feels really good - firm with a little give but not squishy.

Though the people who use them do need to be careful about choking on the silver spoon in their mouth.

Thanks for the heads up from a voice of experience. Was it painful?

I've been running (and still riding, it's CX season after all, I guess) and that's going well. Finally to the point where I'm not sore, even after running on consecutive days.

I haven't run consistently in maybe 10 years, and I forgot how much more "generally athletic" I felt when doing so regularly. Hopefully I can continue to do so without injury or other issues.

And I know it's doing little-to-nothing for my ability to pedal in anger; it's just fun to do something different. And wow, is it convenient when the weather sucks.

Up to 35 minutes now at a decent (for me) clip. Trying to progress very gradually.

"Hello it is me the boss. As you all know if the boss sees his shadow on the 11th of November it means that work is cancelled and it is fritata Wednesday. Considering I am writing you this email, you can guess where this is going.

I encourage all of you to make fritatas for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Per company policy, we provide reimbursement for up to 9 eggs, a package of hormel bacon, and 4oz of cabot brand cheddar cheese. If you wish to be reimbursed you must provide receipts to HR. Anyone that does not give their receipts to Doris by noon on Friday will not be eligible for fritata day reimbursement.

Thank you, and enjoy this glorious egg day!
-The Boss"

I hope that is the supply order for one fritata. Being bulk season, we need our calories if we are ever going to grow up to be big strong men.

bad race on saturday and wet and cold weather means i'm rapidly losing motivation for this biking hard thing. i've decided i'm calling it quits on serious training after this saturday's hill climb and then just enjoying some base rides and tempos for the rest of the year. no more gains to be had this week, its all about tuning the muscle tension for a 16 minute effort (okay maybe 17...) this weekend.

did a 2.5hr ride where I tried to target a climb on the far side of the ridge which I kind of hate. legs didn't feel awesome, but that usually happens when im trying to peak - power is pretty much still there, my legs just always feel worse. improved my time by 2 minutes but threw away 30s by dropping my bottle and having to turn and go back to chase it as it rolled down the hill . i guess that just means theres another easy PR waiting for me for next time

Same. I started trail running a few weeks ago and I'm over the sore/heavy leg feeling. I plan to keep it up 3x week all winter.

Nice break in the weather, so I took a little stroll through the hills out the back door. 70 miles and 7,200 feet of climbing with 300 TSS.

Even though it was in the high 50s, it felt really cold. I've made some genuine effort to lose excess fat (down to 182 from 195 this spring), but that insulation will be missed. It's gonna be a rough California winter.

Training status: resting hard. Like, my coach says I shouldn't even do a round trip commute the next two days. Relying on the wifemobile for evenings.

I've not been one for riding at night. But, my daughter now uses lights, including a headlamp, for her roller skiing with her team. I'm now thinking about some night riding with lights. Hey, it could make it more feasible for us to ride together after work

My rain bike is lighting equipped. Anytime. I was referring to the MTB riders, though.
