Hey everyone. This is my bike that was
given to me by my father in law. I need
some info on the frame please. Campy
Nuovo Record. Campagnolo drop outs
as well. Pump pegs and dual water
bottle bosses. Cinelli bars. A686 stamp
under the bottom bracket. Thank you.

The decals won’t help. They are
Star Trek Borg stickers I put on
myself. The frame was rumored
to be Italian but I don’t know. My
father in law passed in 2012. This
was his bike from the 80’s. No head
badge either. I will keep this bike
forever. I just want to know what it is.

2x bottle mounts, over the top bb cable routing, dimpled chainstay. Did your paw have any modifications done to it? From the cable routing I would say before '84.

I'd agree that the frame appears to have been modified. Given the clamp style gear cable tunnels, long dropouts and exposed nut brakes, all the braze-ons, with the possible exception of the chainstay cable stop, are probably later additions.

Can you look at the BB cups and see what markings are on them?
Does the seat post have a size marked on it?
If no marking on the seat post, can you measure the diameter?
The above may narrow down the origin.
Looks to be a nice ride, whatever it may be.

@EricWade - Roger on the decals/stickers.
You should turn the front tire wiper around. It should be oriented the same as the rear one.
Nice looking frame and I would keep it too if it fit me.
We are curious about the BB shell width. Markings on the BB cups would help.

So it has a 70mm shell. Pull the seatpost and see if it has something on it like 27.0, 27.2, etc. please.

Lovely bike, but I have no idea what it is. I'll say this: It deserves better tires. Gatorskins are pretty good at preventing flats, but they're not good at providing a nice ride.

With a 26.8 seatpost I suspect the "A" in the "serial number" on your bottom bracket stands for "Aelle" Columbus tubing.
If you look up the steerer column of the forks, or feel around with a finger, is there rifling, are there ridges?
Can you pull the fork and look for a Dove above the crown?
The more information you supply, the greater the chance you'll get an identification of the frame builder.
Pictures of the details of the frame's construction are always informative!
Any place metal meets metal is a spot where a frame builder may have left signature, a fingerprint, a tell, a clue to their identity.

Italian threading and yes with a 26.8 this point to Columbus Aelle but to hone more sharp results we will need some more pix of the frame details. The fact it has a hand-stamped 3-digit serial is intriguing

Given the info and two pics provided, a WAG would be a mid-70s Italvega, or equivalent Torpado, that had some work done.
