Around 60 cars and trucks, I often had 3 or so at a time. Then about 10 motorcycles, and around 20 bicycles.

Now I have one car, and 3 bicycles. I have wanted to get a second car, but cannot easily do so. Parking in my Tokyo condominium costs $600 per month, and I was lucky to get a spot, it took nearly 4 years of waiting and winning a lottery held among the neighbors. I cannot easily get a car and park it elsewhere as the law here says your parking spot has to be within a certain distance of your residence. You must register a parking spot, and the spot must be approved by the police department before you are allowed to buy a car. At least there were many available bike parking spots in my building, I was able to get 4 of them without any fuss.

36:10 cars:bicycles

1965-present: 36 cars ((including 12-13 air cooled vw’s), 10 bikes, 2 motorcycles, 1 antique sailboat

Greatest regret was passing on a ‘54 Jag roadster in 1974. But bikes are so much easier to work on and don’t break as often as an old Jag ...

Age 68. 11 cars and 5 bikes in my life (including childhood)

Vehicles:
! Humber Super Snipe UK Sedan in HS, 4 VWs (2 Bugs, 1 Rabbit, & 1 Scirocco over 17 years), 1 Mitsubishi pickup (8 years), 1 Ford pickup 4x4 truck (still have it after 24 years), 1 SAAB 9-3 VIggen (6 years), and 1 Hyundai Santa Fe (10 years).

Bikes:
Childhood (Columbia cruiser and home-built Stingray; College on, 1973 Peugeot (still have), 1973 Fuji (primary bike 1973-2015), Bianchi Volpe (2015-2021)

I keep and take care of what I like that meets my needs. I have kept what was sentimental or truly great, yet still meets all my current needs. Peugeot was my first multispeed bike, is near mint, mostly original, and I still love its ride. The Ford still does it all, and the Hyundai and Bianchi are current daily users. The SAAB was my middle-age crazy fling and fast as a jet.

At age 75 I count about 20 cars (gearheaditus) and almost 10 bikes, all but one having been built by myself and all but one having been sold along the way. Some of those cars were collector items and the bikes were fun too as I learned something from each one.

Cars: 10, Bikes: 8. This doesn't count any of my wife's or kid's bikes. Of those 8 bike the first 3 were stolen, the last 5 I still have, and I regularly ride 2. One my son has "borrowed". One has fat tires and there just isn't a good use for it in Brooklyn and the last is my Italian Steel, nice bike but I just don't ever ride it. Of the cars there is only one still left in my driveway, my new Tesla. Now that I have one I won't drive anything else. I'm not an Elon Musk fan either but this car is great.

That covers 2 bents and one trike. If you chose wisely you dont need that many bents or trikes. As I have stated the trike is used around town on the bike paths. The bent goes out the the road with the bike club. Those two give me the right tool so to speak for the job at hand. You can only ride one bike or trike at a time.

12 cars for both my wife and me, seven bikes for me and I think three for my wife since I met her in 1980.

I had one bike for 23 years, my wife has kept two bikes for twenty years each.

We buy used cars, typically ten years old with 150,000 miles so they don't last for decades, and we usually share one car. Right now we own two, combined ages are38 years and 420,000 miles. Both of those will likely be replaced soon with one newer model, but right now is a lousy time to buy a car.

Many years our bike miles ridden exceed our car miles driven. Certainly way more time in the saddle than behind the wheel.

I'm not counting cars (or bikes) that we purchased for our kids. My wife and I have owned:

9 vehicles since 1977, when I got my license.

>80 bikes since the 1970s, when I began riding 10-speed bikes.

We currently have 2 vehicles and 9 bikes between us.
