Does anyone remember these? I knew Trek sold a lower end Jazz line, something like Univega's Sterlings, but I never realized they had one cheap enough for a Ashtabula crank. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...2652043541235/

"straight and good"? "Hubs spin good and rear cassette spins very well"?
Where were they stored? On the Titanic?

spokes are all rusty but Hubs spin good and rear cassette spins very well. They’ve been backups for too long and now I need to make space. Local delivery available

Pretty standard deal from Bike Works sales, most of their customers are flipping. I'm not sure why this bike is a buyer beware. It's in great shape, the guy that bought it from Bike Works is a regular customer, and good standing fellow.

I think he also bought an all chrome Redline BMX that's also freshly posted on Craigslist.

This showed up in the local ads yesterday listed as a "Colnago super 1970 rare" with a asking price of $2490,

It's clearly a Torpado, but a quite pretty one if I'm being honest. I think it's a Professional but I'm no expert on these. I've reached out to the seller to see if it's an honest mistake or something....

https://classifieds.ksl.com/listing/66380901

From the text of the ad, the price, and the new account I guessing it's not an honest mistake.

Been texting the seller, appears to be an honest mistake. They are wondering true value so they can list it properly.

That fender seems to be bass-ackward, but otherwise the bike is cool. And the seller writes that he's even willing to take more than the asking price.

He bought it from a co-op. Yeah, I have a problem with that. It's there to support the community, not scumbag flippers that add zero value.

"Good standing fellow"? It appears he added zero value. And his pics suck ass.

I get it to an extent, but the other co-op I know of in the area sells bikes at roughly market value, and unless they're so hard-pressed that they need closeout prices to clear inventory, I do think co-ops should at least try to sell around there, especially if they're putting in the (usually unpaid) work to restore them to ridable condition. If they're selling bikes to benefit the community, there's something to be said for making sure the buyers are paying a fair price.

If the prices are low enough that they have a reputation as being the shop you buy for to flip bikes, that's a problem in itself.

A new way to sell a seized seatpost. Apparently it gets really, really cold in NYC this time of year and one steel gets cold in New York, it stays cold!
Nice enough bike anyway

Sad to sell, love this bike.

Great cruiser/commuter.

Nice 631 frameset, but folks are done with the covid pricing & this thing retailed for $1300 21 years ago #facepalm
Gonna wager this poor guy's gonna be waiting a long, long time before someone even offers half his asking price.

And for f%ck sake, would $20 worth of fresh bartape kill you?

As a Bike Works patron and volunteer, $175 for a Veloce-equipped Bianchi in good shape is a bit low from them. That's usually a $250-300 buy. They do like to move the metal, so perhaps the seller (ad not up anymore) bought multiples. Mr. 66 will have to tell me who he thinks/knows it is as I am drawing a blank. I have a few "flip" projects from them, and by flip I mean fully disassembling, renovating, and replacing old and tired components with new, properly-working ones to keep an old cool bike on the road, and "paying myself" maybe/hopefully, a dollar or so (per hour) for my labor on top of the monetary investment in the bike and componentry. I am an extremely successful flipper....

Marketplace - Vintage Bicycle | Facebook

The seller says, "Don't know much about it but I'm pricing mine way cheap".

I had one when I was about 13 or 14. It was probably less than $30 new then and not worth half that now. But the thing that is really bad about it is, someone in a since deleted comment said it was worth every bit of that or more. I assume the commenter was being a turd or they know even less than the seller. I think posts like this are why we see so many overpriced bikes listed so many places. People dig these out of dad's old shed and think they are all rare and worth a pretty penny.

Some clarity would be nice, in the photos and the text and the pricing.

I don't know what the market value is for a bent framed Schwinn Fastback, but I have a hunch that it is not $900.
