Igh tooth count calculator

No introduction
use a calculator
this is the formula
your tooth count divided by your IGH internally geared hubs ratio.

example below is from my shimano nexus 3 speed IGH with coaster brake.

1. 23T cog divided by the ratio.
The first gear ratio is 0.733
so do this
23T cog divided by 0.733 = 31.37
which means in
It should feel like it is a 31T cog considering you round down because there is no 31.37 teeth on a cog. This goes the same for the next results you get.

2. 23T cog divided by the ratio.
The second gear ratio is 1.0
so do this
23T cog divided by 1.0 = 23
which means in
It should feel like it is a 23T cog

3. 23T cog divided by the ratio.
The third gear ratio is 1.364
so do this
23T cog divided by 1.364 = 16.87
which means in
It should feel like it is a 17T cog. This result is rounded up. Just to be clear on that.

below is a image that I took from Sheldon browns website. Google search if you care it see more. It is a calculator that tells you the gear ratio with what ever tooth cog you are using.
I don’t know the formula for this and how they get those numbers but it’s a calculator so we don’t need to diy this one.

I hope others might find this clear and useful if they think to figure out what is talked about above.

I have 4 IGHs. I have NO clue WTF you are getting at. Yah, I know Sheldon was a ratio fanboy too. It's all Greek to me, LOL.
My SA RD3 has 46/19T. About 47.5/ 63.5/ 84.5. My SA XL-RD5w is now with a 44/ 18T. 41.5 to 106.5. My Rohloff14 is 44/ 16T now, 21 to 109 GI.
I do rides up to 104 miles with the 3 speed and 133.5 miles with the 5w.
