Loving the new Trek FX2 Disk - update
After years of thought and consideration, I got this 2022 Trek FX2 Disk to replace my 45 year old Raleigh Record. After four months of riding and adjusting it and getting used to things, I absolutely love it. No more serious pain after rides that used to make me give a lot of thought to when the next ride would be!
The biggest change for me was getting used to the indexed shifting and 8 more gears to use, but now that I've got the hang of it, it's great. I took it back to the LBS for the free 30 day adjustment and since then it's been fine. I love the disk brakes, they work so much better than the old rim brakes.
All the recommendations I got here were good and I appreciate the knowledge sharing. I updated the bike bag, mirror and bottle cage and transferred the rear light and cyclometer from my old bike. I kept the Raleigh, thinking I might ride it now and then, but now I'm not so interested in that.
But not ready to get rid of it because of the emotional attachment. I think the only thing I might still add is a small bag to hold my bike lock, probably a seat post mount, even though I rarely leave my bike during rides.

I had a 2017 FX3 that I absolutely loved riding, they're really fun bikes. I gave it to my son.

I had 2 cages on it and only had to give up this system when I started riding too far for one water bottle.

I've been thinking about the "Stagger" version myself. It would be 13 lbs. lighter than my Jamis.

I just bought the same bike two days ago. My birthday is coming up so I treated myself to a new bike. Still trying to get the seat adjusted so I don't slide down towards the bars. So far I really like it. It shifts really smooth. Not sure if the red one is faster but I do seem to be able to cruise about 2 mph faster compared to my old bike which was white.

CarrollB, that's what I found with the seat but I finally have it right. I'm finding it cruises about 2-3 mph faster than blue. 😁

Probably a change that occurred as a result of the pandemic, I haven't heard of that brake but looking at the price of the bike I wouldn't worry too much about it, save up your money for something better bike wise rather than worry about the brakes. I am sure those brakes will stop OK enough for the occasional rider as that is what the bike is designed for. Usually in these situations they replace with what they can that is close enough in quality and if you have issues right away that would be factory defects Trek should warranty it out or the company that makes the brakes should help out if Trek cannot.
