Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think the guy who sold me the Arabesque crankset is trying to get me in trouble. He pointed me toward another project bike on CL. But it doesn't tick any new boxes, so no interest. And it's on 27" wheels.

One mystery has been why there are so few people that pass by on the sidewalk this summer. Today I only saw two cyclists. No walkers/joggers.

Any theories why?

I remember when the commercial was running and the backlash started. The news even ran stories about it and it was all over the internet. People said things like "Now your rail thin wife has gone from 116 pounds down to 114, congratulations".

My riding is probably curtailed for awhile. Our local meteorologist just forecast 5-7” between this morning and Sunday night. Had an 1-1/2” of rain last night. Not a lot for many USA locations but pretty odd for our time of year.

Lily and I are suppose to go on our first ride together in over a month, but now its looking like it could rain. I really hope it doesn’t.
